Our Service

Dependable Piping Service in Burleson, TX

Piping is the backbone of every plumbing system, carrying clean water in and waste water out reliably. Big Blade Plumbing & Rooter handles piping projects throughout Burleson, TX, for new construction, remodels, additions, and repairs to existing systems. Our team works with copper, PEX, CPVC, PVC, and cast iron based on the application and local code. Supply lines, drain lines, vent stacks, and branch runs all fall within our daily work. We size every line correctly using fixture unit calculations, which prevents pressure loss and slow drainage later. Joints are made with the proper method for each material, including soldering, crimping, gluing, and threading. Pipe supports go in at code-required intervals, keeping lines stable and quiet during use. Pressure testing confirms every supply line holds tight before walls or ceilings close back up. Drain lines receive proper slope, venting, and cleanout placement for long-term reliability. Kitchen remodels, bathroom additions, laundry rooms, and outdoor extensions all benefit from professional piping design. Pricing is shared clearly before any work begins, and our crew protects finished surfaces throughout the project. Since 2007, Burleson homeowners and contractors have trusted our team for piping that performs and lasts.

CHRIS & BRODY great team, in/out same day, very professional, very friendly, extremely knowledgeable, clean, clean, clean. Explained steps, Communicated proficiently, let Granny hover, & watch, I'm not easy client for any professional. The only thing I wish warranty was minimum 90 days, but I've used, & trusted 1960's plumbing issues, since 2015. We learned to do both roof top clean outs 100 feet minimum for tree roots backing up toilet paper, we only use cheap Scott very thin toilet paper if we don't want more than 1X year clean out. We are seniors, fixed income, every plumbing emergency comes out of food budget. We eat beans & corn bread when we have plumbing issues. God Bless Curly's BIG BLADE PLUMBING Out of Cleburne, Texas. Denise & Christy answer phones, very polite, always helpful, Denise will get you on schedule as soon as possible, never waited very long especially in sewage backups. I always ask for clean, knowledgeable, experienced plumbers. I don't hesitate to call CURLY'S BIG BLADE PLUMBING.

Big Blade Plumbing & Rooter came out to fix an incoming water line that was leaking in between two bushes. The previous company had quoted a higher price and wanted to remove the bushes and replace the shut off valve, which was still good. Big Blade Plumbing fixed the leak for a much cheaper price and didn’t remove any bushes. For that I give them 5 Stars.

After having a different company come out and price gouge me and calling around I couldn’t find anybody to help me with my clogged line, I was parked at a gas station and saw BIG BLADE truck drive by so I got out my phone and called, I was greeted on the phone by Denise who was extremely polite and professional, with no high pressure in setting the appointment. The price was extremely fair and affordable so we went ahead and booked an appointment, Hershel and Dylan arrived promptly like within 30-40 minutes of us calling and setting the appointment, they got here and did exactly what they said they were going to without pressuring me into getting other services they executed the repair so fast and explained to me about my 30 day warranty and potential risks to look out for in the future! Piping Service

Understanding what residential piping involves helps homeowners appreciate the scope of work happening behind walls, in attics, and under floors throughout the home every single day. Water supply piping distributes pressurized water from the service entry through branch lines that feed each fixture and appliance in the building from one end to the other. Hot water lines run from the water heater to fixtures requiring hot water, while cold water lines feed every water-using location throughout the property without exception. Drain, waste, and vent piping handles wastewater discharge through a separate system with its own materials, sizing requirements, and installation techniques specific to that function. The supply system operates under pressure continuously, which makes leak-free connections critical for the protection of the entire building structure over decades of service. Sizing of supply piping affects flow at fixtures, with undersized pipes producing weak pressure that frustrates daily use and oversized pipes wasting materials and creating dead-leg sanitation concerns. Each branch within the system must be sized appropriately for the fixtures it serves, which involves calculations based on fixture count and flow requirements from established plumbing code. Pipe routing must respect clearances from electrical systems, HVAC components, and structural elements throughout the home for safety and code compliance. Code-required pipe support spacing prevents sagging that creates noise and stress at joints. Our team handles all aspects of residential piping work with the integrated understanding that good installations require from initial planning to final testing.

Material selection for piping projects affects both immediate function and decades of long-term performance in the home where the work is installed. Copper has been the residential standard for many decades and continues to perform reliably when properly installed in suitable conditions throughout North Texas. Type L copper is the typical residential choice for most applications, with type M sometimes used in less demanding applications and type K reserved for buried service work where extra wall thickness matters. PEX tubing has become widely used since the early 2000s because of its flexibility, freeze resistance, and significantly faster installation compared to soldered copper that requires individual joints. PEX-A and PEX-B differ in manufacturing process and have somewhat different characteristics that affect specific applications and installation methods. CPVC is approved for water supply piping and works well in many situations where its rigidity is acceptable and water temperatures stay within rated limits established by the manufacturer. Each material has specific fittings, joining methods, and installation techniques that must be followed precisely for reliable performance over the system’s useful life. Our team explains material options during planning so homeowners make informed choices about their systems rather than accepting whatever happens to be the contractor default. Local water chemistry from the City of Burleson supply, soil aggressiveness for any buried sections, and homeowner preferences all influence the right material choice for a specific project. The right material for one home is often different from the right material for another based on the specific situation and homeowner priorities.

New construction and major remodel projects require complete piping installation that brings water to every fixture in the home through entirely new lines from service entry to final fixture stub-outs. The work begins with planning that establishes pipe sizing based on the fixture count and demand calculations for the specific home design and intended use patterns. Routing through walls, ceilings, and floors works around structural members, HVAC equipment, electrical wiring, and other building systems competing for the same building cavity space. Pipe support spacing meets code requirements that prevent sagging and noise during operation over years of use under pressure. Pressure testing before walls and ceilings close in catches any problems while access remains easy and affordable to address. Transition fittings handle changes between materials when different piping types serve different portions of the system based on application requirements. Hot and cold lines run parallel to each other in most installations, with appropriate spacing to prevent thermal interference and reduce energy waste. Stub-outs at each fixture location prepare for final connection during the trim phase of construction work. Insulation on hot water lines reduces energy waste and supports faster hot water delivery to distant fixtures. Big Blade Plumbing & Rooter handles new construction plumbing for builders and homeowners managing their own projects across the Burleson area with the same attention to detail every project deserves regardless of size.

Repiping projects address aging systems that have begun failing or that have reached the end of their reliable service life through decades of operation. Galvanized steel piping from before the 1970s corrodes internally over decades and eventually develops widespread leakage problems beyond what spot repairs can address economically. Polybutylene piping installed in the 1980s and early 1990s has well-documented failure patterns that affect the entire system rather than just isolated sections that could be patched. Old copper installations sometimes develop pinhole leaks in soil chemistries or water conditions that affect the metal in particular ways over time. The repipe decision typically follows multiple leak events, water quality concerns, comprehensive assessment of remaining service life, or recommendations during real estate transactions. Modern PEX-A retrofitting through walls, attics, and crawl spaces minimizes wall damage compared to copper repipe in many retrofit situations. Existing fixtures and appliances connect to the new system through proper transition fittings during the repipe work. Wall access for the repipe work is targeted to minimize finished surface damage and supports easier restoration afterward by drywall and finish contractors. Coordinating with restoration trades happens throughout repipe projects to manage the overall homeowner experience. Documenting the new system materials and routing supports future home sales and insurance considerations across coming decades.

Branch additions and modifications cover the changes homeowners make when adding new fixtures or appliances to existing systems during remodels or upgrades. New bathroom installations require new branches serving the lavatory, toilet, tub, and shower at the new location within the home. Kitchen modifications often add lines for ice makers, instant hot water dispensers, dishwashers, or pot fillers depending on the specific remodel scope and homeowner preferences. Outdoor connections for irrigation systems, swimming pools, or outdoor showers require new branches with appropriate backflow protection per code requirements for cross-connection prevention. Laundry room additions add hot and cold lines plus the drain and vent connections for washing machines that handle high-demand intermittent service. Each new branch must be sized appropriately for the demand and routed efficiently through existing finished spaces with minimum disruption. Tie-ins to existing piping use approved fittings and techniques for the specific materials involved at the connection point. Pressure testing the new branches verifies installation before they go into normal service for the homeowner. Coordination with electrical and HVAC trades happens during many branch addition projects when those systems also need modification. Our team handles modifications of all scopes with the same attention to quality regardless of project size.

Pressure testing every piping installation and modification we perform protects the homeowner from problems that would otherwise emerge after walls and ceilings close in for the final time. New installations are pressurized to test pressure that exceeds normal operating pressure by a significant margin to verify system integrity under realistic stress. The system holds at test pressure for a defined period while every fitting, connection, and length of pipe is monitored for any sign of pressure loss or visible leakage that would indicate problems. Visible inspection of accessible joints during the pressure hold catches any seeping that gauges might miss on small leaks developing slowly over the test period. Pressure drops during the test indicate problems that must be located and corrected before testing can resume to passing conclusion. Documentation of pressure test results becomes part of the project record and supports inspection by the municipality during code compliance verification. Repeating tests after any corrections confirms the final system is sound before the work area is closed up and access becomes difficult. We refuse to close up any installation that has not passed complete pressure testing regardless of schedule pressure or any other factor pushing for faster completion. Cutting corners on this step leads to problems that emerge after restoration work has already covered the affected areas and made repair expensive.

Coordination with other trades and timing within larger projects requires careful project management throughout piping installations from beginning to end of the work. Framers establish the wall and ceiling cavities where piping will run during new construction phases. HVAC contractors install ductwork that competes for space in the same building cavities throughout the home. Electricians install wiring that must maintain code-required clearances from plumbing throughout the home for safety and code compliance. Drywall, flooring, and finish trades work after the plumbing portion is complete and inspected by the city building department. Our team coordinates with general contractors, builders, designers, and homeowners managing their own projects to keep work moving efficiently through each phase of construction. Communication about timing, sequencing, and any required modifications happens throughout the project rather than only at completion when problems are hardest to address. Multiple visits at different construction phases are typical for new construction and major remodels, including rough-in, top-out, and trim phases that each have specific work scope. Each visit advances the project toward completion with appropriate work for that specific phase rather than trying to do everything at once. Final walkthrough with the homeowner confirms the system performs to expectations before the project closes out.

Our Service

Why Hiring a Licensed Plumber for Piping Matters in Burleson

Piping decisions affect water quality, pressure, drainage, and the structural integrity of your home for decades. Licensed plumbers in Texas train extensively on materials, sizing, venting, and the code rules that protect every household. Big Blade Plumbing & Rooter has carried a Texas plumbing license since 2007, giving Burleson customers verified, accountable workmanship. A licensed professional knows when to use copper over PEX, when CPVC suits a hot water line, and how to transition between materials safely. Unlicensed piping work often mixes incompatible metals, undersizes drain lines, or skips required venting that leads to sewer gas problems. Licensed plumbers also follow proper support spacing, expansion allowances, and pressure-rating requirements for each pipe type. Texas plumbing code addresses cross-connection control, backflow prevention, and material standards for good reason. Our crew respects those standards on every project. Liability and bonding coverage protects your property throughout the work. Permits and inspections get handled correctly, which preserves your insurance coverage and resale value. Honest material recommendations and clear pricing come standard with our service. Choosing a licensed plumber like Big Blade Plumbing & Rooter means the piping performs correctly today and holds up reliably for years.

Most Common Piping Questions

Piping work raises questions for homeowners considering installations, modifications, or replacements. Below are the questions Burleson homeowners ask most often before scheduling piping projects.

Piping installation timing depends heavily on the scope of work and the conditions at the property. Simple branch additions serving a single new fixture typically complete in a few hours when access is reasonable. Bathroom additions require a day or two for the rough-in piping work, with additional time for final trim during finish phases of construction. Whole-house repipes take several days to a week or more depending on home size, existing material being replaced, and access conditions through finished spaces.

New construction plumbing follows the overall construction schedule rather than running on its own timeline. Rough-in piping installation happens after framing and before drywall, with this phase typically taking a few days to a week for an average home. Top-out work includes installation of fixtures, water heater connections, and other elements that complete the system. Trim phase brings final fixture connections, testing, and commissioning of the entire system. Our team coordinates with general contractors and builders to fit our work within the overall project schedule.

Restoration work after piping projects can extend total project completion beyond just the plumbing time. Drywall repair, flooring restoration, paint, and other finish work happens after the plumbing portion is complete. Coordinating with restoration contractors keeps projects moving efficiently. Realistic timeline communication during initial discussions helps homeowners plan around the work appropriately. Same-day completion is the goal for simple modifications while complex projects proceed according to plans established during planning phases.

Piping work costs vary significantly based on the scope of work, the materials involved, and the access conditions at the property. Simple branch additions involving short runs in accessible spaces fall at the lower end of the price range. Bathroom additions involving multiple branches and finished space modifications cost more because of the additional materials and labor. Whole-house repipes are major investments that reflect the comprehensive scope of replacing entire systems. We provide flat-rate pricing upfront after thorough assessment so homeowners know costs before authorizing work.

Material choice affects costs across all piping projects. Copper typically costs more than PEX for similar installations because of higher material prices and longer installation time. PEX installations using continuous flexible runs reduce labor time compared to soldered copper with multiple joints. CPVC falls between PEX and copper for typical residential applications. Our team explains cost differences during material selection conversations so homeowners can balance budget with their preferences for specific materials.

Permit fees, inspection costs, and any required municipal coordination add to total project price for most piping work. Restoration costs for finished surfaces affected by the work can add substantially to overall project budgets on retrofit installations. Our quotes itemize costs clearly so homeowners understand what they are paying for at each phase. Financing options are available for qualified customers on larger projects. Transparent pricing reflects how we have operated since 2007 throughout Burleson and surrounding communities.

Copper has decades of proven performance and remains a strong choice for many applications. Type L copper handles standard residential water supply with confidence in most conditions. The material is durable, recyclable, and well-understood by inspectors and tradespeople throughout the industry. Copper installations using soldered joints provide rigid, vibration-resistant connections that last decades when properly installed. Concerns include rising copper prices, potential for pinhole leaks in aggressive water chemistry, and slower installation compared to flexible alternatives.

PEX tubing has become the most common choice for new residential construction and retrofits since the early 2000s. The flexibility allows continuous runs that minimize joints inside walls and ceilings where future leaks would be problematic. Freeze resistance is significantly better than copper because PEX can expand slightly without bursting when water freezes inside the pipe. Installation is faster than soldered copper and uses different connection techniques including crimp rings, clamp rings, or expansion fittings depending on the PEX type. PEX-A and PEX-B are the two common varieties with somewhat different characteristics.

CPVC offers another approved option for water supply piping in many residential applications. The material is rigid like copper but uses solvent welded joints rather than soldered connections. CPVC handles hot water service well within rated temperature limits. The material has been used successfully for many decades in residential and commercial applications. Choosing among options depends on the specific application, the homeowner’s preferences, water chemistry, and budget. Our team helps homeowners weigh factors during material selection rather than defaulting to one material universally.

Repiping makes sense when piping systems have reached the end of their reliable service life or when multiple failures point toward broader replacement. Galvanized steel piping from before the 1970s typically reaches end of life after several decades of service. Internal corrosion eventually thins pipe walls enough to develop widespread leakage problems beyond what spot repairs address. Polybutylene piping installed during the 1980s and early 1990s should generally be replaced regardless of current condition because of the material’s documented failure patterns.

Several signs suggest repiping deserves consideration. Multiple leak events in different parts of the home within a short period indicate widespread system failure rather than isolated problems. Discolored water at fixtures, particularly rust-colored water from older galvanized systems, indicates internal pipe corrosion. Reduced water pressure throughout the home suggests system-wide flow restriction from accumulated corrosion or scale. Slow drains and other indirect symptoms sometimes accompany supply system problems in older plumbing.

Repiping decisions consider the homeowner’s specific situation alongside the technical assessment. Short-term owners planning to sell within a few years sometimes prefer repair to avoid major project investment. Long-term owners typically benefit from repiping when systems clearly need replacement because the investment pays back through decades of reliable service. Resale considerations matter because home inspectors regularly flag aging plumbing systems during pre-sale inspections. Our team discusses all these factors openly with homeowners considering repipe projects. Honest assessments support good decisions about timing and scope.

PEX-A and PEX-B are both forms of cross-linked polyethylene tubing used widely in residential plumbing. The names refer to the manufacturing process used to create the cross-linked molecular structure that gives PEX its properties. PEX-A uses the peroxide method during manufacturing, which produces the highest degree of cross-linking. PEX-B uses the silane method, which produces somewhat less cross-linking. Both materials meet plumbing code requirements when installed properly with appropriate fittings.

Several characteristics differ between PEX-A and PEX-B in ways that affect specific applications. PEX-A has better thermal memory, meaning it returns to original shape after being kinked or bent significantly. PEX-A also tolerates lower temperatures slightly better than PEX-B in freezing situations. The expansion fitting system common with PEX-A creates connections by expanding the pipe and inserting a fitting that the pipe contracts around for a tight seal. PEX-B typically uses crimp rings or clamp rings with insert fittings that reduce the pipe internal diameter at each connection.

Installation differences and cost differences also affect material selection between the two types. PEX-A and its expansion fittings typically cost more than PEX-B with crimp connections. PEX-A installations often go faster in challenging routing situations because of the better flexibility and kink recovery. PEX-B works well for most typical residential installations at lower material cost. Either material delivers good service when properly installed by experienced plumbers. Our team works with both types and selects the appropriate option based on the specific project and homeowner preferences.

Repiping retrofit projects require some access to existing wall, ceiling, and floor cavities where piping runs. Access cuts are made strategically to minimize the total surface area affected while reaching the necessary plumbing for replacement. Drywall, plaster, and other finished surfaces typically need patching after the plumbing work is complete. Flooring sometimes requires temporary removal for access to slab plumbing or to reach piping in floor cavities.

Modern repipe techniques using PEX significantly reduce the wall damage compared to traditional copper repipes. PEX flexibility allows the material to be threaded through walls and ceilings through smaller access openings than rigid copper requires. Continuous runs without intermediate joints eliminate the need to access every joint location during installation. Strategic planning of access cuts before the work begins minimizes total damage. Our team works to preserve as much existing finished surface as possible while completing the repipe properly.

Restoration after the piping work is typically handled by drywall, flooring, paint, and finish contractors rather than the plumbing crew. We focus on the plumbing portion with clean handoffs to other trades for finished surface restoration. Recommendations for trusted restoration contractors are available when homeowners want help finding qualified follow-up trades. Some homeowners handle their own restoration to control costs and timeline. Big Blade Plumbing & Rooter coordinates with restoration trades when homeowners want a complete project managed through our office. Communication throughout the work keeps everyone informed about progress and timing.

Modern PEX tubing installed correctly should last 50 years or more in typical residential conditions. Manufacturer warranties from major PEX producers commonly run 25 to 50 years on the material itself, with field performance still being established because the material is relatively newer than copper. CPVC piping has been used successfully for several decades and typically delivers similar service life when properly installed. Copper piping in good conditions has shown service lives of 50 to 70 years in many installations.

Several factors affect actual piping lifespan beyond the material itself. Water chemistry significantly impacts metallic piping, with aggressive water shortening copper and galvanized steel lifespan in some areas. Pressure regulation protects all piping types from premature wear caused by excessive operating pressure. Freeze events damage piping that lacks adequate protection during severe weather. Physical damage from settlement, construction work, or other external forces shortens lifespan regardless of material.

Older piping materials no longer recommended for new installation typically had shorter service lives than current options. Galvanized steel piping from before the 1970s commonly delivered 40 to 50 years before requiring replacement. Polybutylene piping from the 1980s and early 1990s has shown widespread failure within shorter timeframes than originally expected. Lead piping from very old homes presents health concerns beyond simple service life and should be replaced regardless of apparent condition. Our team evaluates existing piping during repair calls and discusses replacement timing when systems approach end of useful life.

Yes, piping work in Burleson and surrounding municipalities requires permits in nearly all situations. Permits protect homeowners by requiring licensed contractors and inspection of completed work. The permit process documents the work performed and creates a record that supports future home sales and insurance claims. Most cities require permits for branch additions, bathroom remodels, repipes, and other piping modifications beyond simple repairs.

The permit process typically takes a few business days for routine projects, though some cities offer expedited service when needed. Applications include the project scope, materials being used, the licensed contractor information, and a description of the work. Permit fees vary by city and project complexity but are generally a modest portion of overall project costs. We include all permitting fees in upfront quotes so there are no surprises during the project. Permits must be posted at the job site during the work and remain visible to inspectors.

Inspection requirements vary by project type and city but typically include rough-in inspection before walls are closed and final inspection after the system is operational. Inspectors verify materials, joining methods, support spacing, pressure testing documentation, and overall code compliance. Our team coordinates every inspection and addresses any items flagged by inspectors promptly. Passing inspection on the first visit is the goal on every project. Our installation practices reflect that priority through careful attention to code requirements throughout the work.
