Our Service
Dependable Toilet Repair Service in Burleson, TX
A toilet that runs, leaks, or flushes weakly wastes water and disrupts the daily rhythm of a household. Big Blade Plumbing & Rooter repairs toilets throughout Burleson, TX, diagnosing the true cause and restoring full function. Our team inspects the fill valve, flush valve, flapper, supply line, shut-off, wax seal, and mounting hardware during every service call. A constantly running toilet often points to a worn flapper or misadjusted fill valve, both quick fixes when caught early. Weak flushes may signal mineral buildup in the rim jets, a partially clogged trap, or a failing flush valve. Water pooling at the base usually means a failed wax ring, a cracked flange, or loose closet bolts allowing movement. Rocking toilets get re-seated with proper shims, fresh seals, and evenly tightened hardware. We carry common repair parts on every truck, which often allows same-day completion. Hard water in North Texas leaves mineral deposits that wear out internal components faster, and we address that buildup during repair. Pricing is shared clearly before any work begins. If a toilet is beyond economical repair, honest replacement options are offered without pressure. Since 2007, Burleson families have trusted our crew for clean, lasting fixes.

CHRIS & BRODY great team, in/out same day, very professional, very friendly, extremely knowledgeable, clean, clean, clean. Explained steps, Communicated proficiently, let Granny hover, & watch, I'm not easy client for any professional. The only thing I wish warranty was minimum 90 days, but I've used, & trusted 1960's plumbing issues, since 2015. We learned to do both roof top clean outs 100 feet minimum for tree roots backing up toilet paper, we only use cheap Scott very thin toilet paper if we don't want more than 1X year clean out. We are seniors, fixed income, every plumbing emergency comes out of food budget. We eat beans & corn bread when we have plumbing issues. God Bless Curly's BIG BLADE PLUMBING Out of Cleburne, Texas. Denise & Christy answer phones, very polite, always helpful, Denise will get you on schedule as soon as possible, never waited very long especially in sewage backups. I always ask for clean, knowledgeable, experienced plumbers. I don't hesitate to call CURLY'S BIG BLADE PLUMBING.
Very good experience! Everyone that I encountered from this organization was kind and helpful from the lady that answered the phone to the plumber and his helper who did the job. I was scheduled promptly. They called and gave me the time that he would arrive. The job was done quickly and professionally by a Master plumber. They also left things clean and showed me how things work ed. I will use them again when I have plumbing needs.
I had a great experience with Curly’s Big Blade Plumbing installing my new water heater. The team was professional, on time, and clearly knew what they were doing. They explained everything in a way that was easy to understand and made sure the job was done right the first time. The installation was clean and efficient, and they left the area spotless when they were finished. Highly recommend them if you’re looking for reliable and honest plumbing work!

Big Blade did a great job for me. They came quickly and completed everything with good quality. They also offered good advice on some minor chages that will make a difference going forward.
Huge thank you to Lee and his helper! I had a hose burst on my water heater in the early morning. Big Blade was able to send a crew out fast and get the hose replaced.
Big Blade Plumbing & Rooter came out to fix an incoming water line that was leaking in between two bushes. The previous company had quoted a higher price and wanted to remove the bushes and replace the shut off valve, which was still good. Big Blade Plumbing fixed the leak for a much cheaper price and didn’t remove any bushes. For that I give them 5 Stars.
Absolutely one of the best out there! You cannot go wrong using Big Blade, they are awesome.
The price they quoted was the price we paid. No hidden fees! Quality work at a fair price! Professional and courteous!
After having a different company come out and price gouge me and calling around I couldn’t find anybody to help me with my clogged line, I was parked at a gas station and saw BIG BLADE truck drive by so I got out my phone and called, I was greeted on the phone by Denise who was extremely polite and professional, with no high pressure in setting the appointment. The price was extremely fair and affordable so we went ahead and booked an appointment, Hershel and Dylan arrived promptly like within 30-40 minutes of us calling and setting the appointment, they got here and did exactly what they said they were going to without pressuring me into getting other services they executed the repair so fast and explained to me about my 30 day warranty and potential risks to look out for in the future! I would HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND using this service. Amazing job thank you guys so much for you’re help and relieving me of all the stress that comes with plumbing difficulties!

Toilet Repair Service
Pinpointing exactly why a toilet is malfunctioning is the foundation of every effective repair we perform, because guessing produces inadequate fixes that fail again quickly. Our plumbers begin with a careful examination of the symptoms, asking when the problem started, whether it has worsened over time, and which specific operations trigger the issue. A toilet that runs constantly typically indicates failed flapper seals, fill valve problems, or chain adjustment issues that cause water to flow continuously. Weak flushing often points to clogged rim jets, partial blockage in the trapway, low water level in the tank, or inadequate water pressure. Leaks at the base usually indicate failed wax ring seals or flange damage requiring attention. Leaks between tank and bowl typically result from failed tank-to-bowl gasket or bolts that have loosened over time. Phantom flushing where the toilet refills periodically without use indicates internal seal failures allowing slow water leakage. Clogs that resist plunging may signal partial blockages in the trapway, problems further down the drain line, or venting issues affecting flow. Each symptom narrows the diagnosis and informs which components need attention rather than wholesale replacement.
Identifying the specific make and model of the toilet matters significantly for parts availability and proper repair technique. Major manufacturers including American Standard, Kohler, TOTO, Mansfield, Gerber, and Briggs each have proprietary internal designs and repair parts. Generic replacement parts often work for common components like flappers and fill valves, while specialty parts require manufacturer-specific sourcing. Reading model numbers from the inside of the tank lid, the back of the tank, or original installation paperwork helps identify the specific product accurately. Manufacturer websites provide exploded diagrams and parts lists for current and discontinued models. Our plumbers carry parts and rebuild kits for the most common toilets on every service truck so most repairs complete on the first visit. When specialty parts are needed for unusual or older fixtures, we know which suppliers stock them and how quickly they can be obtained. Documenting the toilet brand and model during initial visits allows us to bring the right parts to the actual repair visit when return visits are needed.
Removing the existing toilet is the first physical step in the installation process and often takes longer than the new installation itself when fixtures have been in place for many years. Shutting off the water at the supply valve and disconnecting the supply line removes the water source feeding the fixture. Flushing the toilet to drain the tank and removing remaining water from the bowl with a sponge or rags makes the fixture manageable for handling without water spilling everywhere. Disconnecting the supply line, removing the closet bolt nuts, and breaking the wax seal allows the toilet to be lifted free from the flange after years of being securely seated. Old toilets often resist removal due to corroded fasteners, cement-like wax ring residue, or sealant around the base that has hardened over time. Patience and appropriate tools handle these challenges without damaging the surrounding floor or the porcelain fixture during the process. Hauling the old fixture out of the building requires care because porcelain is heavy and can damage doorways, walls, and flooring during transport through the home. Disposal of the old toilet happens through appropriate channels rather than just leaving it for the homeowner to handle later. Cleaning the flange area thoroughly removes old wax, sealant, and debris that would interfere with sealing the new fixture properly.
Installing the new toilet begins with inspecting the flange and addressing any issues found during the removal phase before the new fixture goes in place. Replacement closet bolts ensure proper anchoring of the new toilet to the flange regardless of the condition of the old bolts that came out with the previous fixture. Fresh wax ring or alternative seal goes onto the flange or the bottom of the toilet depending on the manufacturer’s instructions and the plumber’s preference based on the specific situation. Wax rings remain the most common sealing method because of their long history of reliable service across millions of installations, though waxless seals using rubber gaskets offer advantages in some situations. Setting the toilet onto the flange requires careful alignment of the closet bolts through the holes in the base, then gently pressing the toilet down to compress the wax and seat the fixture against the floor evenly. Closet bolt nuts get tightened evenly to secure the toilet without overtightening that could crack the porcelain base. The tank installs on the bowl using the mounting bolts and gaskets supplied with the toilet, with attention to proper sealing between the tank and bowl. Even tightening pattern prevents stress concentrations that could damage the porcelain. The level setting confirms the toilet sits properly without rocking or uneven contact with the floor.
Supply line connection completes the plumbing portion of the installation and connects the new toilet to the water supply. New braided stainless steel supply lines replace whatever was previously serving the old toilet rather than reusing aged lines that may be approaching failure after years of service. The line connects between the shutoff valve and the toilet fill valve with proper tightening that creates a seal without crushing the components from excessive force. Turning on the water at the supply valve fills the tank and bowl, allowing the first test of the complete installation under actual operating conditions. Watching for leaks during initial filling catches any installation issues immediately when they remain easy to address. Checking the fill valve operation confirms proper water level setting that supports good flushing without wasting water through overfilling or underfilling. Inspecting the flush valve operation verifies that the flapper or canister seals properly between flushes without phantom flushing or running water. Adjustments to fill level, flush volume, and other operational settings happen during this initial testing phase based on the manufacturer’s specifications. The first flush confirms the toilet operates as expected before any additional steps proceed.
Testing the complete installation through multiple flush cycles confirms reliable operation before we consider the work complete and leave the property. Each flush should clear the bowl completely and refill the tank to the proper level within an appropriate time. Listening for unusual sounds during operation identifies any installation issues that need attention before they become problems later. Checking for leaks at all connection points and around the base catches any sealing problems while they remain easy to address before damage develops. Verifying that the toilet sits firmly on the floor without rocking confirms proper installation and prevents future seal failures from movement that compromises the wax ring. Caulking around the base provides finished appearance and prevents water intrusion if the seal ever fails to develop unnoticed. Some plumbers leave the front of the base uncaulked so any future seal failure becomes visible promptly rather than hidden under caulk, though local code and homeowner preference affect this decision. The homeowner sees the completed installation and operation before we leave the property to confirm everything meets expectations. Documentation of the installation including warranty registration supports future service if needed.
Coordination with other trades and timing within larger projects requires attention when toilet installation is part of broader work happening in the bathroom or home. Bathroom remodels typically schedule toilet installation after flooring is complete and before final fixtures are connected for the finished space. Coordinating with cabinet installers, tile contractors, and other trades keeps work moving through finished bathroom projects without delays or conflicts. New construction toilet installation fits within the overall construction timeline, typically during the trim phase after walls and flooring are complete. Multiple toilet installations during the same visit benefit from efficiency gains compared to separate service calls scheduled individually. Replacement of all toilets in a home as part of a home improvement project often makes sense when fixtures share similar age and condition that suggests common end of life. Big Blade Plumbing & Rooter handles single-toilet installations and complete bathroom plumbing with equal attention to quality regardless of project scope. Each fixture deserves proper installation regardless of project scope or scale. Quality work matters as much on routine installations as on major projects.

Why Hiring a Licensed Plumber for Toilet Repair Matters in Burleson
Toilet repair looks simple, yet wrong fixes often turn a minor leak into rotted subflooring and damaged ceilings below. Licensed plumbers in Texas train on flange conditions, sealing methods, venting requirements, and the proper diagnosis of internal tank components. Big Blade Plumbing & Rooter has carried a Texas plumbing license since 2007, giving Burleson customers verified, accountable repair work. A licensed professional identifies the actual failed component instead of swapping parts until the symptom disappears. Unlicensed repairs often overtighten closet bolts, crack porcelain, or reuse damaged wax rings that fail within weeks. Licensed plumbers also recognize when a rocking toilet signals deeper issues, such as flange damage or subfloor rot. Texas plumbing code addresses fixture support, venting, and water use standards that all factor into a proper repair. Our crew respects those requirements on every visit. Liability coverage protects your bathroom finishes during the work. Honest reporting on the true condition of the toilet comes standard, including clear advice on repair versus replacement. Manufacturer warranties on premium fixtures often require licensed service work to remain valid. Choosing a licensed plumber like Big Blade Plumbing & Rooter means the toilet works correctly and your home stays protected.
Most Common Toilet Repair Questions
Toilet problems range from minor annoyances to significant water waste issues. Below are the questions Burleson homeowners ask most often when toilet trouble appears.
A toilet that runs continuously typically has internal seal failures allowing water to flow from the tank to the bowl after each flush. The most common cause is a worn or damaged flapper that fails to seal completely against the flush valve. Replacement flappers cost very little and install in just a few minutes, making this an easy repair for most situations. Chain adjustment problems can also cause flapper sealing issues by holding the flapper slightly open after flushing.
Fill valve problems cause continuous running when the valve fails to shut off completely after the tank fills. Worn fill valve diaphragms, broken float mechanisms, or mineral buildup affecting valve operation cause this issue. Replacement fill valves resolve the problem and typically improve flush performance by ensuring proper water level. Adjusting the fill level to the correct height affects both flush performance and water consumption efficiency.
Cracks or damage to the flush valve assembly itself sometimes cause running problems that flapper replacement cannot address. The flush valve sits at the bottom of the tank and serves as the seat against which the flapper seals. Damaged valves require more extensive repair involving tank removal in most cases. Our team identifies the actual cause through inspection rather than just replacing parts hoping to fix the problem.
Toilet repair costs vary based on the specific problem, parts required, and complexity of the repair. Simple repairs like flapper replacement fall at the lower end of the price range and complete in a single quick visit. Fill valve replacement costs slightly more because of both the part cost and additional labor time. Major repairs involving wax ring replacement, flange repair, or tank-to-bowl gasket replacement cost more because of the additional disassembly and reassembly required.
The cost of replacement parts varies between toilet brands and ages. Generic parts work for many common components and keep costs reasonable. Brand-specific parts for specialty toilets or premium fixtures cost more but provide proper fit and function. Aged or discontinued toilets sometimes have limited parts availability that affects both cost and timing. We provide flat-rate pricing upfront so homeowners know costs before authorizing work.
Repair versus replacement becomes the key question when repair costs approach the cost of a new toilet. Simple repairs on quality toilets are almost always worthwhile because the toilet has many years of useful life remaining. Complex repairs on aging or lower-quality toilets sometimes cost as much as replacement with a new mid-range model. Multiple problems affecting different components simultaneously often suggest broader replacement makes more sense. Our team shares the analysis openly with homeowners to support informed decisions about repair versus replacement.
Most toilet repairs complete in one to two hours from arrival to cleanup, assuming necessary parts are available on the truck. Simple repairs like flapper replacement or fill valve adjustment complete in under an hour. Fill valve replacement, supply line replacement, and tank-to-bowl gasket replacement typically run between one and two hours. More extensive repairs involving wax ring replacement, flange work, or complete rebuilds can take two to three hours or longer.
Several factors can extend repair time beyond standard ranges. Specialty parts not on the truck require either pickup from a local supplier or shipment from the manufacturer. Difficult access conditions in small bathrooms or behind cabinets slow the work. Stuck or seized components from years of mineral buildup require additional time to free without damage. Multiple problems requiring attention during the same visit naturally take longer than single-issue repairs. Damage discovered during the repair sometimes expands the scope beyond the original problem.
Same-visit completion is the goal for most toilet repairs we perform. Carrying common parts on the truck for major manufacturers allows immediate repair in most situations. When specialty parts are needed, we typically schedule a return visit promptly once the parts arrive. Documenting specific repair requirements during the initial visit ensures the right parts come back for the return appointment. Multiple toilet repairs in the same home benefit from combined visits that save total time.
Toilet repair includes some tasks within reach of careful homeowners while others benefit from professional service. Simple repairs like replacing flappers, adjusting fill levels, or replacing supply lines are feasible for homeowners with basic tools and patience. Following manufacturer instructions and online repair guides supports most do-it-yourself work successfully. Hand tools, replacement parts from local suppliers, and reasonable mechanical aptitude handle straightforward repairs.
Several factors complicate do-it-yourself toilet repair. Wax ring replacement requires removing the toilet, which is a heavy and awkward fixture to handle without experience. Improperly installed wax rings cause leaks that may not be obvious immediately but cause damage over time. Flange repair involves more substantial work that benefits from professional experience. Identifying the actual cause of complex problems requires diagnostic skills that develop through many repair situations. Damage to fixtures during repair attempts can turn a simple repair into a complete replacement.
The case for hiring professional repair rests on practical considerations. The cost of professional repair is modest compared to the cost of fixing damage from failed do-it-yourself attempts. Licensed plumbers carry the parts, tools, and experience to handle complications that surprise homeowners. Manufacturer warranties on toilets sometimes require professional service for some repairs to remain valid. Service calls for repair are typically efficient when the plumber arrives prepared with experience and parts. Some homeowners enjoy doing their own work while others prefer professional handling. Both approaches work for appropriate situations.
Several signs suggest replacement makes more sense than continued repair. Cracked porcelain in the bowl or tank cannot be reliably repaired and requires replacement. Toilets that have been repaired multiple times in short periods may have underlying issues warranting replacement. Older toilets using 3.5 gallons or more per flush waste significant water compared to modern high-efficiency fixtures, which can justify replacement based on water savings alone. Aesthetic concerns during bathroom remodels often drive replacement of functional but outdated fixtures.
Repair cost approaching the cost of a new toilet typically tips the decision toward replacement. Multiple problems affecting different components simultaneously suggest the fixture is approaching end of life. Hard-to-find parts for discontinued or specialty toilets sometimes make replacement more practical than chasing components. Outdated styling that no longer matches updated bathroom design provides motivation for replacement alongside any functional issues.
Toilet age affects the replacement decision but is not the primary factor. Quality toilets from major manufacturers can last 25 to 50 years with proper maintenance and periodic repair. Lower-quality fixtures may not last as long even with attention. Water efficiency improvements available in new toilets often justify replacement of older inefficient models for environmentally conscious homeowners. Our team discusses these factors openly during repair calls so homeowners can make informed decisions based on their specific situation.
Base leaks typically indicate failed wax ring seals between the toilet and the closet flange. The wax ring creates a seal that prevents water from escaping when the toilet flushes. Over time, wax rings can compress unevenly, dry out, or be compromised by toilet movement on the floor. Replacement requires removing the toilet, installing a fresh wax ring, and resetting the fixture properly.
Flange problems cause base leaks that wax ring replacement alone cannot address. Damaged, cracked, or corroded flanges fail to provide proper sealing surface for the wax ring. Flanges sitting too low below the finished floor from flooring changes prevent proper compression of the wax ring. Flange repair or replacement addresses these underlying issues before new wax rings can seal reliably. Floor damage from previous leaks sometimes requires repair before plumbing work can proceed.
Loose closet bolts allow toilet movement that breaks the wax ring seal over time. Tightening bolts evenly without overtightening that could crack porcelain may resolve minor movement issues. Severely loose toilets often have larger problems requiring more extensive repair. Cracked porcelain at the base can also cause base leaks that no seal replacement addresses, requiring complete fixture replacement. Identifying the actual cause through careful inspection determines the right repair approach for the specific situation.
Plunging is the first response to toilet clogs and resolves most situations when performed correctly. A flange plunger designed for toilets, rather than a flat plunger for sinks, provides the proper seal and force for effective clearing. Maintaining good contact between the plunger and the bowl drain through repeated firm pushes generates the pressure needed to break up most clogs. Several minutes of consistent plunging often clears stubborn clogs that respond slowly to initial attempts.
Toilet augers, also called closet augers, reach into the trapway when plunging cannot clear the blockage. The auger extends a flexible cable through the toilet trap to physically break up or retrieve the obstruction. Manual operation pushes the cable through the obstruction while rotating to engage the blockage. Augers handle clogs that plunging cannot reach and avoid damage to porcelain that pulling and forcing can cause.
Recurring or severe clogs sometimes indicate problems beyond the toilet itself. Blockages in the drain line, root intrusion in the main sewer, or venting problems affecting drainage can all cause repeated toilet clogs. Camera inspection identifies underlying causes when simple clearing does not produce lasting results. Big Blade Plumbing & Rooter handles toilet clogs of all severities and identifies whether the problem is just the immediate clog or something requiring more extensive attention to the broader drainage system.
Weak flushing has several common causes worth investigating systematically. Clogged rim jets, the small openings under the bowl rim that direct water during flushing, reduce flushing power significantly when blocked by mineral buildup. Cleaning rim jets with a wire or descaling solution restores flushing performance in many cases. Low water level in the tank limits the volume of water available for flushing and reduces flushing force. Adjusting fill level to manufacturer specifications restores proper flushing.
Partial blockages in the trapway reduce flushing performance even when not completely blocking flow. Toilet augers reach into the trapway to address partial blockages that affect flushing. Older toilets with rough internal surfaces from mineral buildup sometimes have permanent flushing performance issues that no cleaning fully resolves, eventually justifying replacement. Drain line problems beyond the toilet itself can also cause weak flushing when waste cannot move freely away from the toilet.
Fill valve problems sometimes contribute to weak flushing through inadequate water replacement after flushes. The fill valve must restore tank water to proper levels and operating pressure within reasonable time after flushing. Failed or slow fill valves reduce overall flush performance. Replacing fill valves with quality modern units often improves flushing along with addressing the immediate fill problem. Our team diagnoses weak flushing through systematic inspection rather than just replacing random parts hoping to find the cause.
