Dependable Toilet Installation Service in Burleson, TX
A bathroom remodel, a worn-out fixture, or a switch to a modern high-efficiency model each lead to the same question, which is who actually sets the toilet correctly. Big Blade Plumbing & Rooter answers that question for Burleson, TX homeowners with installations built on attention to the details that determine long-term performance. Our team unboxes the new unit and inspects it for shipping damage, hairline cracks, and missing hardware before any setup work starts. The existing closet flange is evaluated for height relative to the finished floor, since a flange sitting too low invites slow leaks that quietly damage the subfloor over years. Flange repair kits, extender rings, or full flange replacement handle problem conditions before the new toilet ever leaves the box. Closet bolts are positioned and shimmed where flooring transitions create uneven surfaces, which keeps the base seated without rocking. Wax-free rubber gaskets or traditional wax rings are chosen based on flange condition and the homeowner’s preference, since each has its place. Supply lines and angle stops earn a close look during every install, with replacements quoted up front when wear suggests trouble ahead. Comfort-height bowls, elongated designs, water-saving dual-flush models, smart toilets with bidet functions, and wall-mounted units all fall within our daily work. Tank internals are checked for fill valve adjustment, flapper seating, and proper float height before the system goes into service. After several test flushes, we look for movement at the base, slow refill cycles, ghost flushing, and any seepage where the bowl meets the floor. Old toilets get removed and hauled away with no extra hassle for the homeowner. Pricing is laid out in plain terms before any work begins. Since 2007, Burleson households have trusted our crew to deliver installations that flush right and stay quiet.

They were honest, got the work done when they said,at the price they said.Very professional, hard honest workers!
CHRIS & BRODY great team, in/out same day, very professional, very friendly, extremely knowledgeable, clean, clean, clean. Explained steps, Communicated proficiently, let Granny hover, & watch, I'm not easy client for any professional. The only thing I wish warranty was minimum 90 days, but I've used, & trusted 1960's plumbing issues, since 2015. We learned to do both roof top clean outs 100 feet minimum for tree roots backing up toilet paper, we only use cheap Scott very thin toilet paper if we don't want more than 1X year clean out. We are seniors, fixed income, every plumbing emergency comes out of food budget. We eat beans & corn bread when we have plumbing issues. God Bless Curly's BIG BLADE PLUMBING Out of Cleburne, Texas. Denise & Christy answer phones, very polite, always helpful, Denise will get you on schedule as soon as possible, never waited very long especially in sewage backups. I always ask for clean, knowledgeable, experienced plumbers. I don't hesitate to call CURLY'S BIG BLADE PLUMBING.

I was scheduled promptly. They called and gave me the time that he would arrive. The job was done quickly and professionally by a Master plumber. They also left things clean and showed me how things work ed. I will use them again when I have plumbing needs.

Huge thank you to Lee and his helper! I had a hose burst on my water heater in the early morning. Big Blade was able to send a crew out fast and get the hose replaced.
Big Blade Plumbing & Rooter came out to fix an incoming water line that was leaking in between two bushes. The previous company had quoted a higher price and wanted to remove the bushes and replace the shut off valve, which was still good. Big Blade Plumbing fixed the leak for a much cheaper price and didn’t remove any bushes. For that I give them 5 Stars.
Absolutely one of the best out there! You cannot go wrong using Big Blade, they are awesome.
The price they quoted was the price we paid. No hidden fees! Quality work at a fair price! Professional and courteous!
After having a different company come out and price gouge me and calling around I couldn’t find anybody to help me with my clogged line, I was parked at a gas station and saw BIG BLADE truck drive by so I got out my phone and called, I was greeted on the phone by Denise who was extremely polite and professional, with no high pressure in setting the appointment. The price was extremely fair and affordable so we went ahead and booked an appointment, Hershel and Dylan arrived promptly like within 30-40 minutes of us calling and setting the appointment, they got here and did exactly what they said they were going to without pressuring me into getting other services they executed the repair so fast and explained to me about my 30 day warranty and potential risks to look out for in the future! I would HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND using this service. Amazing job thank you guys so much for you’re help and relieving me of all the stress that comes with plumbing difficulties!

Toilet Installation Service
Selecting the right toilet for a specific bathroom matters more than many homeowners realize because the wrong choice creates daily frustration over the long service life these fixtures provide. Bowl shape options include round front for compact spaces and elongated for greater seating comfort in bathrooms with adequate room for the larger footprint. Height options have evolved from standard height to comfort height that puts the seat closer to chair height for easier use, which many homeowners prefer particularly as they age into needing the additional support. Flush mechanisms include traditional gravity flush, pressure-assisted designs for stronger flushing in lower water volumes, and dual flush systems that allow water-saving selection between liquid and solid waste. Water usage ratings have improved dramatically over recent decades, with current high-efficiency models using 1.28 gallons per flush compared to 3.5 gallons or more for older fixtures still in service. Trapway designs affect both flushing performance and visual appearance, with skirted designs hiding the trapway for cleaner appearance and easier cleaning. Seat configurations vary widely from basic plastic seats included with budget toilets to soft-close mechanisms and heated electronic seats on premium models. Color choices have narrowed in recent years with white dominating the market, though some manufacturers still offer beige, gray, and other options for specific design preferences. Our plumbers help homeowners evaluate options based on actual household needs rather than catalog photos alone.
Existing conditions at the installation site significantly affect how a toilet installation proceeds and often determine whether the project completes in one visit or requires additional work. The closet flange that anchors the toilet to the floor must be in good condition and at the correct height relative to the finished floor for proper sealing of the new fixture. Damaged, cracked, or corroded flanges need repair or replacement before the new toilet goes in to ensure reliable sealing without leaks. Flanges sitting too low below the finished floor often result from flooring changes that raised the floor without corresponding adjustment to the flange height. Flange extenders or replacement flanges address this issue and create proper seating for the new toilet at the correct elevation. The supply line shutoff valve at the wall should function properly so water can be controlled during installation and future service when needed. Aged shutoff valves that have seized from disuse warrant replacement during the installation rather than leaving the problem for later when an emergency demands functional valves. The flooring around the toilet location should be solid and level without water damage or settling that affects installation. Storage and items near the toilet location need temporary relocation to provide working access. Our team inspects all these conditions before purchasing or installing any toilet to identify any preparation work needed.
Removing the existing toilet is the first physical step in the installation process and often takes longer than the new installation itself when fixtures have been in place for many years. Shutting off the water at the supply valve and disconnecting the supply line removes the water source feeding the fixture. Flushing the toilet to drain the tank and removing remaining water from the bowl with a sponge or rags makes the fixture manageable for handling without water spilling everywhere. Disconnecting the supply line, removing the closet bolt nuts, and breaking the wax seal allows the toilet to be lifted free from the flange after years of being securely seated. Old toilets often resist removal due to corroded fasteners, cement-like wax ring residue, or sealant around the base that has hardened over time. Patience and appropriate tools handle these challenges without damaging the surrounding floor or the porcelain fixture during the process. Hauling the old fixture out of the building requires care because porcelain is heavy and can damage doorways, walls, and flooring during transport through the home. Disposal of the old toilet happens through appropriate channels rather than just leaving it for the homeowner to handle later. Cleaning the flange area thoroughly removes old wax, sealant, and debris that would interfere with sealing the new fixture properly.
Installing the new toilet begins with inspecting the flange and addressing any issues found during the removal phase before the new fixture goes in place. Replacement closet bolts ensure proper anchoring of the new toilet to the flange regardless of the condition of the old bolts that came out with the previous fixture. Fresh wax ring or alternative seal goes onto the flange or the bottom of the toilet depending on the manufacturer’s instructions and the plumber’s preference based on the specific situation. Wax rings remain the most common sealing method because of their long history of reliable service across millions of installations, though waxless seals using rubber gaskets offer advantages in some situations. Setting the toilet onto the flange requires careful alignment of the closet bolts through the holes in the base, then gently pressing the toilet down to compress the wax and seat the fixture against the floor evenly. Closet bolt nuts get tightened evenly to secure the toilet without overtightening that could crack the porcelain base. The tank installs on the bowl using the mounting bolts and gaskets supplied with the toilet, with attention to proper sealing between the tank and bowl. Even tightening pattern prevents stress concentrations that could damage the porcelain. The level setting confirms the toilet sits properly without rocking or uneven contact with the floor.
Supply line connection completes the plumbing portion of the installation and connects the new toilet to the water supply. New braided stainless steel supply lines replace whatever was previously serving the old toilet rather than reusing aged lines that may be approaching failure after years of service. The line connects between the shutoff valve and the toilet fill valve with proper tightening that creates a seal without crushing the components from excessive force. Turning on the water at the supply valve fills the tank and bowl, allowing the first test of the complete installation under actual operating conditions. Watching for leaks during initial filling catches any installation issues immediately when they remain easy to address. Checking the fill valve operation confirms proper water level setting that supports good flushing without wasting water through overfilling or underfilling. Inspecting the flush valve operation verifies that the flapper or canister seals properly between flushes without phantom flushing or running water. Adjustments to fill level, flush volume, and other operational settings happen during this initial testing phase based on the manufacturer’s specifications. The first flush confirms the toilet operates as expected before any additional steps proceed.
Testing the complete installation through multiple flush cycles confirms reliable operation before we consider the work complete and leave the property. Each flush should clear the bowl completely and refill the tank to the proper level within an appropriate time. Listening for unusual sounds during operation identifies any installation issues that need attention before they become problems later. Checking for leaks at all connection points and around the base catches any sealing problems while they remain easy to address before damage develops. Verifying that the toilet sits firmly on the floor without rocking confirms proper installation and prevents future seal failures from movement that compromises the wax ring. Caulking around the base provides finished appearance and prevents water intrusion if the seal ever fails to develop unnoticed. Some plumbers leave the front of the base uncaulked so any future seal failure becomes visible promptly rather than hidden under caulk, though local code and homeowner preference affect this decision. The homeowner sees the completed installation and operation before we leave the property to confirm everything meets expectations. Documentation of the installation including warranty registration supports future service if needed.
Coordination with other trades and timing within larger projects requires attention when toilet installation is part of broader work happening in the bathroom or home. Bathroom remodels typically schedule toilet installation after flooring is complete and before final fixtures are connected for the finished space. Coordinating with cabinet installers, tile contractors, and other trades keeps work moving through finished bathroom projects without delays or conflicts. New construction toilet installation fits within the overall construction timeline, typically during the trim phase after walls and flooring are complete. Multiple toilet installations during the same visit benefit from efficiency gains compared to separate service calls scheduled individually. Replacement of all toilets in a home as part of a home improvement project often makes sense when fixtures share similar age and condition that suggests common end of life. Big Blade Plumbing & Rooter handles single-toilet installations and complete bathroom plumbing with equal attention to quality regardless of project scope. Each fixture deserves proper installation regardless of project scope or scale. Quality work matters as much on routine installations as on major projects.

Why Hiring a Licensed Plumber for Toilet Installation Matters in Burleson
Toilet installation looks simple, yet small mistakes lead to slow leaks, rocking bowls, and water damage to subflooring. Licensed plumbers in Texas train on flange repair, sealing methods, supply line connections, and venting requirements. Big Blade Plumbing & Rooter has held a Texas plumbing license since 2007, giving Burleson customers verified, accountable workmanship. A licensed professional checks the flange condition, height, and orientation before setting the new toilet in place. Unlicensed installations often skip flange repair, overtighten closet bolts, or use the wrong wax ring height for the floor. Those mistakes cause sewer gas leaks, subfloor rot, and recurring service calls within months. Licensed plumbers also confirm the toilet vents properly and that the flush valve operates within code specifications. Texas plumbing code addresses backflow protection, fixture clearances, and water use standards that all factor into a proper installation. Our crew respects those standards on every job. Liability coverage protects your flooring, subfloor, and bathroom finishes during the work. Manufacturer warranties on premium toilets often require licensed installation to remain valid. Honest pricing and clean job sites come standard with our service. Choosing a licensed plumber like Big Blade Plumbing & Rooter means the toilet sits solid and serves your home for years.
Most Common Toilet Installation Questions
Toilet installation seems straightforward but involves details that affect both immediate performance and long-term reliability. Below are the questions Burleson homeowners ask most often before scheduling new toilet installation.
A standard toilet installation typically takes one to two hours from arrival to cleanup, assuming reasonable access and no unexpected complications. Removal of the existing toilet often takes nearly half the total time when the old unit has been in place for many years and fasteners have corroded or sealed surfaces have become difficult to release. Setup of the new toilet according to manufacturer instructions, connection of the supply line, and pressure testing fill the remaining time. Most homeowners can use the new toilet shortly after installation completes.
Several factors can extend installation time beyond the standard range. Aged shutoff valves that fail to close fully or that have seized completely require replacement before the toilet work can proceed properly. Damaged or improperly positioned flanges need repair before the new toilet can seal correctly to prevent leaks. Flooring changes that raised the floor without corresponding flange adjustment require flange extenders or rebuild work to bring the flange to proper height. Cabinet damage discovered during installation may need addressing before the new toilet can be properly placed. Wall-mounted toilets require significantly more time than standard floor-mounted installations because of the additional rough-in work behind the wall.
Multiple toilet installations during the same visit benefit from efficiency gains compared to separate appointments. Replacing all toilets in a home during one visit makes sense when multiple fixtures need updating. Combined service often qualifies for package pricing that saves compared to scheduling separate visits. Coordinating with other plumbing service during the same trip maximizes the value of the visit. Realistic time estimates come from initial assessment rather than optimistic guesses designed to win the job.
Toilet installation costs depend on the type of toilet, the complexity of the installation, and any related plumbing work needed during the visit. Standard toilet replacement on properly functioning shutoff valves typically falls at the lower end of the price spectrum for plumbing service. Premium toilets with advanced features cost more for the equipment itself, though installation labor remains similar across most fixture types. Wall-mounted, smart, or specialty toilets cost considerably more than standard models for both equipment and installation labor. We provide flat-rate pricing upfront so homeowners know costs before authorizing work.
The cost of the toilet itself varies enormously and represents a significant portion of total project cost. Basic toilets from major manufacturers start at modest prices for builder-grade fixtures. Mid-range toilets offer improved performance, better warranties, and more features at higher price points. Premium toilets with skirted designs, comfort heights, dual-flush mechanisms, and other advanced features cost considerably more. Smart toilets with electronic features represent the high end of the residential toilet market. We can install toilets the homeowner has purchased separately or supply fixtures from our trusted suppliers as part of the installation. Each approach has tradeoffs that we discuss during initial consultations.
Additional services discovered during installation can affect the final cost. Replacement of failed shutoff valves adds modest cost but is often necessary for proper installation. Flange repair or replacement involves more substantial work depending on the specific issue. Flooring damage from previous leaks may need attention before the new toilet can be properly installed. Any unexpected issues get discussed with the homeowner before additional work proceeds. Transparent communication about pricing during the work prevents surprises at invoice time.
Toilet sizing focuses primarily on the rough-in dimension, which is the distance from the wall behind the toilet to the center of the flange where the toilet connects to the drain. Standard rough-in is twelve inches, which fits the vast majority of residential bathrooms. Some homes have ten-inch or fourteen-inch rough-in dimensions, which require specific toilet models or adapter installation to fit properly. Measuring the rough-in before purchasing a toilet prevents the disappointment of buying a fixture that does not fit the existing plumbing rough-in.
Other dimensional considerations affect toilet selection. Bowl shape, with round front for compact spaces and elongated for greater comfort, affects how much space the toilet occupies. The overall depth from the wall to the front of the bowl matters in bathrooms with limited space in front of the toilet location. Bowl height options include standard height around fifteen inches and comfort height around seventeen inches that puts the seat closer to chair height. Tank dimensions vary between models and affect the visual proportions of the installed fixture.
Specialty configurations sometimes warrant different sizing decisions. Wall-mounted toilets have entirely different installation requirements that involve in-wall tank installation rather than the standard one-piece configuration. Corner toilets fit specifically into corner locations with triangular tank shapes. Compact toilets work in tight spaces like powder rooms with limited floor area. Our team helps homeowners select toilets that fit both the bathroom space and the existing rough-in plumbing rather than discovering compatibility issues after purchase. Confirming all relevant dimensions before purchase or installation prevents wasted time and frustration.
Quality toilets from major manufacturers typically deliver 25 to 50 years of reliable service. The porcelain bowl and tank themselves often last indefinitely because the material does not wear out under normal use. Internal components including flush valves, fill valves, and flappers wear out and need replacement periodically. Wax rings and supply lines have shorter service lives and require periodic replacement during the toilet’s overall lifespan.
Several factors affect actual toilet longevity. Water quality affects internal components, with hard water causing mineral buildup that affects fill valve and flush mechanism operation. Cleaning practices including avoiding harsh chemicals protect the porcelain finish and internal components. Settlement or movement of the toilet over years can crack porcelain bowls or compromise floor seals. Hard impacts from dropped objects can crack tanks or bowls. Quality of original installation affects how long the fixture performs without issues.
Replacement timing depends more on functional and aesthetic factors than absolute end of useful life in many cases. Older toilets with high water consumption can justify replacement based on water savings even when they continue working. Outdated styling sometimes drives replacement during bathroom remodels even when toilets remain functional. Damage including cracks, chips, or stains that cannot be cleaned often warrants replacement. Multiple repair needs in short periods sometimes suggest replacement makes more sense than continued repairs. Big Blade Plumbing & Rooter discusses these factors openly during repair calls so homeowners can make informed decisions about repair versus replacement.
Toilet installation is one of the more accessible plumbing projects for homeowners with basic tools and confidence. The process involves disconnecting and removing the old fixture, preparing the flange, installing the new toilet with fresh wax ring, and connecting the supply line. Manufacturers provide detailed instructions and most homeowners can follow them with reasonable success. Basic hand tools including adjustable wrenches and a level handle most of the work.
Several factors can complicate do-it-yourself installation. Aged shutoff valves that fail during the process create unexpected complications and may require professional response. Damaged flanges require repair work that goes beyond simple installation. Stripped or corroded closet bolts can damage the flange during removal. Improper wax ring installation creates leaks that may not be obvious immediately but cause damage over time. Toilet alignment with the flange requires care because incorrect placement compresses the wax incorrectly and compromises sealing.
The case for professional installation rests on several practical considerations. The cost of professional installation is reasonable compared to the cost of correcting installation errors, particularly those involving water damage from sealing failures. Licensed plumbers carry the right parts, including replacement supply lines, fresh wax rings, and various flange repair options that may be needed during the work. Manufacturer warranties on toilets sometimes require professional installation to remain valid. Service calls for installation are typically efficient when the plumber arrives prepared with experience and proper materials. Some homeowners enjoy doing their own plumbing work while others prefer professional handling of these projects.
Comfort height toilets, also called chair height toilets, have seats that sit approximately seventeen inches above the floor compared to the fifteen inches of standard height toilets. The additional two inches matches the seat height of typical dining chairs, which makes sitting down and standing up significantly easier for many adults. The Americans with Disabilities Act specifies seventeen to nineteen inch heights for accessible installations, which is why comfort height is sometimes called ADA-compliant or universal design height.
Comfort height toilets work well for most adult users but may not suit every household equally. Tall adults often find comfort height much more comfortable than standard height, particularly for users over six feet. Older adults and those with knee, hip, or back issues benefit from the reduced bending required during use. Households with young children sometimes find standard height easier for kids who need their feet on the floor for stability. Some families compromise with comfort height in master bathrooms used primarily by adults and standard height in bathrooms shared with children.
The cost difference between comfort height and standard height toilets is typically modest within the same product line. Major manufacturers offer comfort height versions of most current toilet models without significant price premium. Installation procedures are identical between heights. The decision comes down to user preferences and household composition rather than significant cost or installation differences. Our team discusses height options during consultations to help homeowners select what will work best for their daily use.
Modern toilets use significantly less water than older fixtures while maintaining or improving flushing performance. Current high-efficiency toilets use 1.28 gallons per flush, compared to 3.5 gallons or more for toilets installed before 1992 and even higher volumes for older fixtures. Replacing an old toilet with a modern high-efficiency model can save substantial water over the toilet’s service life. Households with multiple toilets see proportionally larger savings from replacing several aging fixtures.
Several technologies have made low-flush toilets work well despite using less water. Improved bowl geometry creates faster, more efficient flushing with less water volume. Pressure-assisted designs use compressed air to generate stronger flushing in lower water volumes. Dual-flush mechanisms allow water-saving selection between liquid and solid waste flushes, with lower volume for liquid waste reducing average water use. WaterSense certified toilets meet EPA performance standards while using 1.28 gallons or less per flush.
Long-term cost savings from water-efficient toilets can be substantial in households with multiple toilets and frequent use. Water utility rates have increased significantly in many areas over recent decades, which makes water savings more financially meaningful. Some utility districts offer rebates for replacing older toilets with high-efficiency models, which can offset some of the replacement cost. Our team can recommend appropriate water-efficient models that fit the homeowner’s preferences and bathroom configuration. The combination of water savings, improved performance, and updated appearance often justifies toilet replacement even when old fixtures still technically function.
A properly installed toilet should not leak immediately after installation, and any leak that appears within hours or days indicates an installation issue. Common causes include improperly seated wax rings that did not seal correctly, loose closet bolts that allow movement and seal failure, damaged or improperly positioned supply line connections, or defective components in the new fixture. Most installation-related leaks are simple to address once identified through careful inspection.
Tank-to-bowl connection leaks sometimes appear shortly after installation if the gasket between tank and bowl was not seated properly. Tightening the tank bolts evenly may resolve minor issues, though severe leaks may require disassembly and reseating the gasket. Supply line connections that drip usually need slight tightening, but excessive tightening can damage the components and worsen the problem. Fill valve and flush valve leaks inside the tank sometimes indicate defective components that warranty replacement addresses.
