Our Service
Dependable Faucet Installation Service in Burleson, TX
Choosing a new faucet is exciting, yet the long-term satisfaction comes down to how cleanly that fixture gets installed beneath the sink. Big Blade Plumbing & Rooter installs faucets across Burleson, TX, for kitchens, bathrooms, laundry rooms, utility sinks, and outdoor wet bars. Our team confirms the hole pattern, deck thickness, and clearance behind the basin before any box gets opened. Existing angle stops and risers receive a close look, since worn valves should be replaced during the same visit rather than after a future leak. We swap in quarter-turn shut-offs when the older multi-turn versions show signs of stiffness or seepage. New braided stainless supply lines are sized to reach without kinks or tension at the connection points. Mounting hardware is seated evenly to prevent rocking, and deck plates or escutcheons are aligned squarely on the basin. Single-handle, widespread, centerset, wall-mounted, pull-down, and touchless models all fall within our daily work. We follow manufacturer instructions closely, which keeps the new fixture’s warranty intact for the years ahead. Each faucet runs through hot, cold, and full-flow testing before the cabinet doors close. Pricing is shared upfront, and the workspace is left wiped down at the end of every visit. Since 2007, Burleson households have trusted our crew to deliver faucet installations that look right and stay tight.

CHRIS & BRODY great team, in/out same day, very professional, very friendly, extremely knowledgeable, clean, clean, clean. Explained steps, Communicated proficiently, let Granny hover, & watch, I'm not easy client for any professional. The only thing I wish warranty was minimum 90 days, but I've used, & trusted 1960's plumbing issues, since 2015. We learned to do both roof top clean outs 100 feet minimum for tree roots backing up toilet paper, we only use cheap Scott very thin toilet paper if we don't want more than 1X year clean out. We are seniors, fixed income, every plumbing emergency comes out of food budget. We eat beans & corn bread when we have plumbing issues. God Bless Curly's BIG BLADE PLUMBING Out of Cleburne, Texas. Denise & Christy answer phones, very polite, always helpful, Denise will get you on schedule as soon as possible, never waited very long especially in sewage backups. I always ask for clean, knowledgeable, experienced plumbers. I don't hesitate to call CURLY'S BIG BLADE PLUMBING.

They also left things clean and showed me how things work ed. I will use them again when I have plumbing needs.

Huge thank you to Lee and his helper! I had a hose burst on my water heater in the early morning. Big Blade was able to send a crew out fast and get the hose replaced.
Big Blade Plumbing & Rooter came out to fix an incoming water line that was leaking in between two bushes. The previous company had quoted a higher price and wanted to remove the bushes and replace the shut off valve, which was still good. Big Blade Plumbing fixed the leak for a much cheaper price and didn’t remove any bushes. For that I give them 5 Stars.

The price they quoted was the price we paid. No hidden fees! Quality work at a fair price! Professional and courteous!
After having a different company come out and price gouge me and calling around I couldn’t find anybody to help me with my clogged line, I was parked at a gas station and saw BIG BLADE truck drive by so I got out my phone and called, I was greeted on the phone by Denise who was extremely polite and professional, with no high pressure in setting the appointment. The price was extremely fair and affordable so we went ahead and booked an appointment, Hershel and Dylan arrived promptly like within 30-40 minutes of us calling and setting the appointment, they got here and did exactly what they said they were going to without pressuring me into getting other services they executed the repair so fast and explained to me about my 30 day warranty and potential risks to look out for in the future! Faucet Installation Service
Selecting the right faucet for a specific application matters more than many homeowners realize when shopping for a replacement, because the wrong choice creates daily frustration for years to come. Kitchen faucets need to fit the sink configuration, with proper hole counts and spacing that match either single-hole, three-hole, or four-hole installations depending on the sink design. Spout height and reach determine whether large pots and pans can fit under the faucet for filling and washing without removing them from the sink each time. Pull-down and pull-out sprayers add convenience for cleaning produce and rinsing the sink but introduce more moving parts that eventually require service over the faucet’s lifetime. Touchless and motion-activated faucets offer hands-free operation that appeals to many homeowners managing messy cooking situations but require electrical connections or batteries that add installation complexity and ongoing maintenance. Material choice affects both appearance and durability, with solid brass construction typically outlasting plated or hollow alternatives by many years in regular service. Finish options include polished chrome, brushed nickel, matte black, brushed gold, and various specialty finishes that must coordinate with other fixtures in the space for a cohesive design. Spray pattern options, flow rates, temperature memory features, and warranty terms all factor into the selection process. Magnetic docking on pull-down sprayers provides more secure return-to-position than basic gravity docking. Our plumbers help homeowners evaluate options based on actual usage patterns rather than catalog photos that show faucets in their best possible light. The right faucet balances aesthetics, function, durability, and budget for the specific household and the specific kitchen or bathroom where it will live for the next decade or more.
Bathroom faucets present their own selection considerations that differ substantially from kitchen choices in both function and installation requirements. Single-hole bathroom faucets work in sinks designed for one mounting opening, with both the faucet body and any decorative escutcheon plate fitting through the single hole in the sink deck. Centerset faucets use a four-inch spread between handles and combine into a single base, making them suitable for sinks with three holes spaced four inches apart on center, which is the most common configuration in builder-grade bathrooms. Widespread faucets separate the spout and handles into three distinct components mounted independently in three holes typically spaced eight inches apart from outside handle to outside handle. Wall-mount faucets attach to the wall behind the sink rather than to the sink itself, creating a clean modern look but requiring proper rough-in plumbing in the wall before any finished installation can proceed. Vessel sink faucets are taller to reach over the raised bowl of a vessel sink and require careful coordination with the sink mounting height to ensure proper clearance and water flow direction. Sensor-activated bathroom faucets are growing in popularity for hygiene and water conservation benefits, particularly in homes with children or guest bathrooms. Lavatory faucets in commercial-grade configurations sometimes appear in residential settings for distinctive design statements. Pop-up drain mechanisms are typically included with bathroom faucets and must be installed correctly to function properly with the chosen faucet. Our team confirms the sink configuration before purchasing or installing any bathroom faucet to ensure compatibility from the start of the project. Returning an incompatible faucet and reordering the correct model adds time, frustration, and sometimes shipping costs to what should be a straightforward installation project.
Existing conditions at the installation site significantly affect how a faucet installation proceeds and often determine whether the project completes in one visit or requires additional work. Shutoff valves under the sink need to function properly so water can be controlled during the installation and during future service when needs arise. Aged shutoff valves that have seized from disuse often will not close fully when finally needed, and replacing them is good practice during faucet installation rather than leaving the problem for later when an emergency demands functional valves. Supply lines connecting the valves to the faucet should be replaced with fresh braided stainless steel lines rather than reusing old lines that may be approaching the end of their service life and could fail suddenly. The mounting surface under the sink may need cleaning, repair, or modification depending on its condition and the requirements of the new faucet’s mounting hardware. P-trap connections, drain assemblies, and pop-up mechanisms are typically removed and reinstalled or replaced during faucet installation work when access is already required. Cabinet damage from prior leaks sometimes requires attention before new components can be properly installed against compromised surfaces. Storage and items in the cabinet need to be moved temporarily to allow working access, which the homeowner can handle before our arrival to save time. Garbage disposal locations, water filter installations, and instant hot water dispensers under sinks can complicate access and need to be worked around carefully. Our plumbers address all these adjacent components during installation rather than focusing only on the faucet itself. Proper preparation prevents the small problems that can turn a quick installation into an extended visit and an unhappy customer.
Removing the existing faucet is often the most time-consuming part of any installation, particularly when the previous faucet has been in place for many years under conditions that promote corrosion and seizure. Mounting nuts on the underside of the sink become corroded, mineral-encrusted, or simply seized from age, requiring specialized tools and patience to break loose without damaging the sink itself in the process. Basin wrenches with extending handles, deep sockets sized for plumbing fittings, and reciprocating saws all have their place in removal work depending on the specific situation and the level of difficulty encountered. Disconnecting supply lines from the existing faucet should be done with the water shut off completely and the lines drained to avoid mess inside the cabinet and on the floor. Removing the existing escutcheon plate, deck plate, or sink-mounted hardware exposes the mounting holes that the new faucet will use during installation. Cleaning the sink deck around the mounting holes removes accumulated buildup, old caulk residue, and any mineral deposits that would prevent proper sealing of the new faucet against the sink surface. Inspecting the sink itself for damage or corrosion at the mounting holes catches problems before the new faucet goes in over a compromised mounting surface. Old plumber’s putty residue often needs to be carefully scraped away without scratching the sink finish. The removal phase often reveals conditions that affect the installation plan, such as unexpected supply line damage or mounting holes that have been enlarged from previous installations. Clear communication with the homeowner about any surprises happens immediately rather than after the new faucet is partially installed and complications emerge. Setting realistic expectations during the removal phase makes the rest of the project go more smoothly.
Installing the new faucet requires careful attention to manufacturer instructions because details vary significantly between brands and models in ways that affect both immediate function and long-term reliability. The general process begins with feeding the faucet shanks and supply lines through the mounting holes in the sink and securing them from below with mounting hardware specific to the manufacturer’s design. Different manufacturers use different mounting systems, including traditional bolts and nuts that require basin wrenches, quick-connect plastic nuts that hand-tighten in seconds, or specialized brackets that snap into place with locking mechanisms. Following the manufacturer’s specific torque specifications prevents both leaks from undertightening connections and damage from overtightening that can crack faucet bodies or strip threads. Supply lines connect to the shutoff valves below the sink, with proper thread sealant or compression fittings depending on the connection type and the specific configurations involved. Pull-down sprayer hoses, weight kits, and similar accessories install according to the manufacturer instructions to ensure smooth operation and reliable retraction during normal use. Aerators, sprayer heads, and other end-of-line components install at the appropriate phase of the work after the faucet body is secured and connections are made. Battery compartments for touchless or sensor-activated faucets need accessible installation that allows future battery replacement without disassembly. Decorative trim including escutcheon plates, deck plates, and handle covers installs after the mechanical work is complete and connections are tested. Every connection is hand-tightened first, then properly torqued with a wrench to manufacturer specifications. Documentation of the installation, including warranty registration with the manufacturer, supports future service and protects the homeowner’s investment.
Pressure testing and leak inspection complete every faucet installation we perform because the work is not finished until it has been verified under realistic operating conditions. Both hot and cold supplies are turned on at the shutoff valves, and the faucet is operated through its full range of motion and temperature settings to confirm proper operation across the entire range. Every connection point, from the shutoff valves up through the faucet itself, is inspected visually and by touch for any sign of moisture, mineral residue, or developing weep. Operating the faucet for several minutes confirms that connections hold under sustained flow rather than just initial pressure that might mask a slow developing leak. The drain assembly is tested by filling the sink and observing whether the pop-up holds water and releases it properly when the lever or knob is engaged. Any pull-down or pull-out sprayer is operated multiple times to confirm smooth retraction and proper engagement with the docking mechanism in the spout. Aerators are checked for proper flow patterns and any debris that may have entered the line during installation, since pipe shavings or thread sealant fragments sometimes accumulate and need clearing. Adjustments to temperature limit settings, flow restrictors, or other operational features happen during this final verification phase based on homeowner preferences and household needs. Spray pattern testing on multifunction sprayers confirms each mode works correctly and switches smoothly between options. The homeowner is shown the installed faucet and its operation before we consider the job complete and walk through any features that may be new to them.
Coordination with other trades and timing within larger projects requires careful planning when faucet installation is part of broader renovation work involving multiple contractors and dependencies. New kitchen or bathroom remodels typically schedule plumbing work around cabinet installation, countertop fabrication and installation, and other trades that affect access to the sink area. Faucet installation usually happens after countertops are set and sinks are mounted but before backsplashes are installed in some cases, depending on the specific configuration. Working alongside cabinet installers, electricians, tile contractors, and the homeowner managing their own project requires coordination on schedules, access, and sequencing of the work. Our team coordinates with general contractors, designers, and homeowners managing their own projects to keep the work moving efficiently and avoid the delays that come from miscommunication between trades. Communication about timing, sequencing, and any required modifications to plans happens throughout the project rather than only at the end when problems emerge. Larger projects may require multiple visits as different phases reach the appropriate stage for plumbing work, including rough-in, set, and trim phases. Counter material affects installation timing, since stone counters require careful handling to avoid damaging finishes during plumbing work. Specialty installations like wall-mount faucets require rough-in coordination weeks before the final installation to ensure plumbing locations match the finished plan. Big Blade Plumbing & Rooter handles single-fixture installations and full kitchen or bathroom plumbing with equal attention to quality regardless of project scale. The scale of the project does not change how we approach the work, and small jobs receive the same care as major renovations because every customer deserves quality work.

Why Hiring a Licensed Plumber for Faucet Installation Matters in Burleson
Faucet installation seems straightforward, but small mistakes lead to drips, water damage, and ruined cabinetry within months. Licensed plumbers in Texas study fixture connections, supply line ratings, and code requirements that protect your home. Big Blade Plumbing & Rooter has held a Texas plumbing license since 2007, giving Burleson customers verified, accountable workmanship. A licensed professional knows the difference between compression, threaded, and push-fit connections and selects the right method for each setup. Unlicensed installations often use mismatched parts, overtightened nuts, or improper sealants that fail under daily use. Licensed plumbers also recognize when shut-off valves or supply lines need replacement before the new faucet goes in. Texas code addresses cross-connection protection, backflow prevention, and proper fixture support for good reason. Our crew respects those standards on every visit. Liability coverage protects your countertops, flooring, and cabinets in the rare event of an issue. Manufacturer warranties typically require licensed installation to remain valid, which protects your investment over time. Honest recommendations and upfront pricing come standard with our service. Choosing a licensed plumber like Big Blade Plumbing & Rooter means the faucet is installed correctly, sealed properly, and built to last.
Most Common Faucet Installation Questions
Faucet installation seems straightforward but involves details that affect both immediate performance and long-term reliability. Below are the questions Burleson homeowners ask most often before scheduling new faucet installation.
Standard faucet installations typically take one to two hours from arrival to cleanup, assuming reasonable access and no unexpected complications. Kitchen faucet installations often run slightly longer than bathroom faucets because of the additional components involved, including pull-down sprayers, soap dispensers, and side sprayers in some configurations. Bathroom faucet installations on standard configurations usually complete within an hour for simple replacements. Removal of the existing faucet often takes nearly half the total time when the old unit has been in place for many years and mounting hardware has corroded or seized. Setup of the new faucet according to manufacturer instructions, connection of supply lines, and pressure testing fill the remaining time. Most homeowners can use the new faucet within minutes of the installation being completed.
Several factors can extend installation time beyond the standard range. Aged shutoff valves that fail to close fully or that have seized completely require replacement before the faucet work can proceed, adding 30 to 60 minutes to the project. Damaged supply lines, corroded fittings, or other deteriorated components discovered during installation extend the visit accordingly. Mounting hole spacing that does not match the new faucet sometimes requires sink modification or selection of a different faucet model. Complex faucet designs with multiple components, such as widespread bathroom faucets with separate spouts and handles, take longer than single-hole installations. Touchless or motion-activated faucets require electrical connections or battery installation that adds setup time. Wall-mount or specialty faucets sometimes require rough-in plumbing work that significantly extends the project timeline.
Multiple faucet installations during the same visit benefit from efficiency gains that reduce per-faucet time. The drive time, setup, and cleanup happen once rather than separately for each faucet. Replacing all bathroom faucets in a home during one visit is more efficient than scheduling separate visits for each. Combined service often qualifies for package pricing that saves compared to multiple service calls. Our team handles whole-house faucet replacements regularly during renovation projects and after the failure of one fixture prompts replacement of others approaching the same age. Coordinating with other plumbing service during the same visit, such as toilet replacement or drain cleaning, maximizes the value of the trip. Realistic time estimates are provided during scheduling so homeowners can plan their day accordingly.
Faucet installation costs depend on the type of faucet, the complexity of the installation, and whether related components like shutoff valves or supply lines need replacement during the work. Standard bathroom faucet installations on properly functioning shutoff valves typically fall at the lower end of the price spectrum. Kitchen faucet installations cost slightly more because of the additional components and the often-larger faucet body. Widespread bathroom faucets, wall-mount installations, and specialty configurations require additional time and therefore cost more. Tub and shower valve installations involve more complex work and corresponding costs. We provide flat-rate pricing upfront so the homeowner knows the total cost before authorizing the work.
The cost of the faucet itself varies enormously and is separate from installation labor. Basic kitchen and bathroom faucets from major manufacturers start at modest prices for builder-grade products. Mid-range faucets offer better materials, more features, and longer warranties at higher price points. High-end designer faucets can cost many times more than basic units. The choice depends on budget, design preferences, expected service life, and feature requirements. We can install faucets the homeowner has purchased separately, or we can supply faucets from our trusted suppliers as part of the installation. Each approach has tradeoffs, and we discuss the options openly during the initial conversation. Supplying our own faucets gives us control over quality and provides single-source warranty coverage, while customer-supplied faucets give the homeowner maximum control over selection.
Additional services discovered during the installation can affect the final cost. Replacement of failed shutoff valves adds modest cost but is often necessary to complete the installation properly. New supply lines are typically included in our standard installation pricing, since reusing old lines is poor practice. Drain assembly work, including new pop-ups, tailpieces, or P-traps, may be needed depending on the condition of existing components. Sink modifications for changed hole configurations involve additional time and tools. Any unexpected issues discovered during the work are discussed with the homeowner before additional charges accumulate. Transparent communication about pricing during the work prevents surprises at invoice time. Big Blade Plumbing & Rooter has built our reputation on honest pricing since 2007.
Faucet installation is one of the more accessible plumbing projects for homeowners with basic tools and confidence working with their hands. The process involves shutting off the water at the shutoff valves, disconnecting the supply lines from the existing faucet, removing the mounting hardware from under the sink, lifting out the old faucet, and reversing the process to install the new one. Most modern faucets include detailed instructions, mounting hardware, and supply lines as part of the package. Basic hand tools, a basin wrench for tight spaces, and a flashlight for visibility under the sink are typically sufficient. A patient approach and willingness to work in cramped under-sink spaces matter as much as technical skill for a successful do-it-yourself installation.
Several factors can turn a simple installation into a frustrating project. Aged shutoff valves that fail to close completely allow water to continue flowing during the installation, making the work messy and difficult. Corroded mounting nuts that resist removal can damage the sink during forced removal attempts. Tight spaces under sinks, particularly with garbage disposals, water filters, or storage in the cabinet, make access difficult even for professionals. Supply lines that need replacement add complexity and require correct fittings between potentially mismatched sizes. Differences between the existing rough-in plumbing and the new faucet’s requirements sometimes require modifications beyond simple installation. Discovering these complications mid-project, with the old faucet already removed and the new one not yet installed, leaves the household without water service until the work is completed somehow.
The case for hiring a licensed plumber for faucet installation rests on several practical considerations. Insurance coverage for water damage caused by faulty installations may be affected by whether the work was performed by a licensed contractor. The cost of professional installation is modest compared to the damage potential from leaks that develop over time. Plumbers carry quality supply lines, fresh shutoff valves, and appropriate fittings on the truck, eliminating multiple trips to hardware stores during the project. Service calls for installation are typically efficient when the plumber arrives prepared. Manufacturer warranties on faucets sometimes require professional installation to remain valid, though most warranties do not have this requirement for standard residential installations. Big Blade Plumbing & Rooter handles faucet installations as part of routine service throughout Burleson. The peace of mind of professional installation often justifies the modest cost.
Material and construction quality matter significantly for long-term faucet performance. Solid brass faucet bodies typically outlast plated or hollow alternatives because the underlying metal does not corrode through over time. Stainless steel components in moving parts resist corrosion and wear better than chrome-plated alternatives. Ceramic disc valves have largely replaced older compression valves and offer significantly longer service life with virtually no maintenance. Quality washers, O-rings, and other sealing components affect both initial performance and long-term reliability. Reading product specifications and warranty terms provides useful information about manufacturer confidence in the product. Lifetime limited warranties on functional components from major manufacturers indicate quality construction.
Configuration and compatibility with the existing sink determines whether a faucet will fit at all. Single-hole sinks accept single-hole faucets or some four-hole configurations with a deck plate. Three-hole sinks with centered spread accept centerset or widespread faucets depending on the spacing between holes. Specialty sink configurations, including farmhouse sinks with separate faucet decks, require coordination with the specific sink model. Spout height, reach, and swing angle affect daily function in ways that matter more than appearance. Pull-down and pull-out sprayer designs differ in operation, with pull-down typically having a more secure docking and pull-out offering greater reach. Touchless and motion-activated faucets add convenience but require electrical connections or batteries that affect installation requirements.
Finish selection involves both aesthetic preferences and practical considerations. Polished chrome remains the most common finish because of its versatility, durability, and ease of cleaning. Brushed nickel offers a slightly warmer appearance that hides water spots and fingerprints better than polished finishes. Matte black has become increasingly popular for contemporary designs but shows water spots and fingerprints more readily. Brushed gold, champagne bronze, and other warm finishes coordinate with specific design styles. Specialty finishes from boutique manufacturers may have unique appearance but sometimes lack the durability of standard finishes. Coordinating the faucet finish with cabinet hardware, lighting fixtures, and other visible metal elements creates cohesive design. Big Blade Plumbing & Rooter discusses these selection factors during initial consultations to help homeowners make informed choices. The right faucet balances function, durability, appearance, and budget for the specific household.
Quality faucets from major manufacturers typically deliver 15 to 25 years of reliable service when installed correctly and used in normal residential conditions. Solid brass construction with ceramic disc valves represents the longevity standard, and many faucets in this category continue working well beyond 25 years with only periodic minor maintenance. Lower-cost faucets with plastic or zinc components typically have shorter service lives, often failing within 5 to 10 years in regular use. Premium faucets from manufacturers focused on quality can last 30 years or more in good conditions. Lifetime limited warranties from major brands provide some indication of expected longevity, though specific warranty terms vary significantly. Hard water, water chemistry, and household usage patterns all affect actual service life regardless of theoretical lifespan.
Several factors significantly affect how long a faucet lasts in actual use. Water quality plays a major role, with hard water causing mineral buildup that can damage internal components over time. Households with hard water often benefit from water softeners that protect not just faucets but all plumbing fixtures and appliances. Chemical attack from chlorinated water, particularly in homes with high chlorine levels from municipal supplies, can degrade rubber and elastomer components. Water pressure above 80 psi stresses faucets continuously and accelerates wear on valves and connections. Installing a pressure reducing valve at the main entry point protects all faucets along with the rest of the plumbing system. Heavy commercial-style use in residential settings, including heavy pull-down sprayer use multiple times daily, accelerates wear on those components.
Maintenance practices affect faucet longevity meaningfully. Cleaning aerators every six months removes mineral deposits and debris that affect flow and can damage the faucet over time. Inspecting visible connections under the sink occasionally catches developing leaks before they cause damage. Wiping faucet finishes regularly with appropriate cleaners protects the surface treatment. Avoiding harsh chemical cleaners protects both the finish and internal components. Addressing drips or minor problems promptly prevents them from developing into larger issues. Replacing cartridge or valve components when wear becomes apparent extends overall faucet life. Big Blade Plumbing & Rooter performs faucet repairs and maintenance throughout Burleson homes. Sometimes a simple repair extends a quality faucet’s life by many years, while sometimes replacement is the more cost-effective choice. Our honest assessment helps homeowners make the right decision.
Single-hole faucets mount through one opening in the sink or countertop, with both the spout and handle integrated into one unit. The compact installation works well for smaller sinks and contemporary designs where minimalism is preferred. Single-hole faucets typically include either a single lever handle that controls both temperature and flow or a smaller integrated handle design. Many single-hole faucets include an optional deck plate that allows installation in three-hole sinks if needed. The installation is among the simplest faucet types because only one mounting point and one set of supply connections are involved. Modern kitchen faucets with pull-down sprayers are predominantly single-hole designs because of the integrated nature of the spout and handle.
Centerset faucets, sometimes called four-inch centerset, combine the spout and handles into a single base unit with four inches of spacing between the handle centers. The design works with sinks designed for three-hole installation with four-inch centered spread. Both the spout and handles mount through their respective holes, with the integrated base providing the visual unification. Centerset faucets are common in bathrooms with smaller sinks where space is limited but the three-hole configuration is established. Installation is more complex than single-hole because of the multiple mounting points but simpler than widespread because of the integrated base. The design has been a residential standard for decades, particularly in builder-grade construction.
Widespread faucets separate the spout and handles into three distinct components, typically with eight inches between the handle centers. The design accommodates the larger format of luxury bathrooms with bigger sinks and offers more visual prominence than centerset alternatives. Each component mounts through its own hole, with connections made under the sink using flexible braided lines or rigid copper tubing. Installation is the most complex of the standard residential configurations because of the multiple independent mounting points and connections. Widespread faucets offer design flexibility, with the ability to position handles for ergonomic preference and to mix different spout heights and handle styles in some product lines. The visual impact is more substantial than centerset designs. Our team installs all three configurations regularly and helps homeowners select the right type for their specific sink and design preferences.
Replacing shutoff valves during faucet installation is good practice when the existing valves are aged, corroded, or show any signs of malfunction. Shutoff valves that have not been operated in many years often will not close completely when finally needed, which creates problems during the installation and leaves no functioning shutoff for future service. Older multi-turn stop valves with rubber washers tend to fail more frequently than modern quarter-turn ball valves. Quarter-turn ball valves close fully with a 90-degree turn of the lever and rarely seize even after years of disuse. Replacing functioning but aged valves during faucet installation costs modestly more but provides long-term protection. The work is more efficient during faucet installation when the cabinet is already open and the water is already shut off.
Replacing supply lines during every faucet installation is standard professional practice. The flexible braided stainless steel supply lines that connect shutoff valves to faucets have finite service lives, typically five to ten years before manufacturer recommendations call for replacement. Reusing old supply lines on a new faucet installation creates a weak link in an otherwise fresh installation. The cost of new supply lines is minimal compared to the protection they provide against water damage from sudden failures. Aged supply lines that look acceptable may have internal degradation that is not visible from outside. Older non-braided supply lines, particularly clear or white plastic tubing, should be replaced immediately whenever encountered because their failure history is poor.
The shutoff valve and supply line work happens at the same time as the faucet installation rather than as separate visits. Disconnecting old supply lines, removing aged shutoff valves, installing new valves, and connecting new supply lines all happen in sequence during the installation. The total time added by valve and line replacement is modest, typically 30 minutes for a pair of valves and lines under one sink. The protection provided lasts for years and prevents the most common cause of under-sink water damage claims. Our team includes new supply lines in every faucet installation as standard practice and addresses shutoff valves based on their condition. Big Blade Plumbing & Rooter has handled thousands of faucet installations across Burleson, and the supply line and valve work has proven its value many times over. The small additional cost during installation is money well spent.
A properly installed faucet should not leak immediately after installation, and any leak that appears within hours or days of the work indicates an issue that needs attention. Common causes of immediate leaks include loose connections at supply lines, improperly seated O-rings or washers, damaged threads on fittings, or manufacturing defects in the new faucet. Most of these issues are simple to address once identified through careful inspection. Tightening connections slightly often resolves minor weeping at supply line connections. Replacing damaged washers or gaskets resolves issues at connection points. Reseating components according to manufacturer instructions sometimes resolves operational issues.
Manufacturing defects in new faucets occasionally cause leaks despite proper installation. Cracked castings, defective cartridges, or improperly assembled components from the factory all show up occasionally even from major manufacturers. The plumber typically identifies whether a leak stems from installation or from a defect in the faucet itself. Manufacturer warranties typically cover defective products, though specific terms and procedures vary. Documentation including the original receipt, the installation date, and photographs of the leak supports warranty claims. Replacement components from the manufacturer are sometimes shipped quickly, while other times the entire faucet needs to be returned. Our team coordinates with manufacturers when warranty issues arise during or after installation. The homeowner generally pays only for the labor to install replacement components, not for the parts themselves under valid warranty.
Big Blade Plumbing & Rooter stands behind every installation we perform with workmanship guarantees that protect the homeowner. If a leak appears that traces to our installation work, we return to address it without additional charge. If a leak traces to a defective faucet, we coordinate with the manufacturer for warranty parts and handle the replacement installation. If a leak appears at related components that we did not install or service, such as drain assemblies the homeowner installed separately, additional work may be needed at standard rates. The distinction between installation issues and other causes is explained clearly so the homeowner understands what is covered and what is not. Calling us promptly when any concern appears allows us to address issues before damage develops. Our reputation depends on standing behind our work, and we take that responsibility seriously on every installation we complete throughout the Burleson area.
