Plumbing in Arlington, TX
Stretching from north to south across a substantial area, Arlington contains plumbing systems that represent nearly every era of residential construction since the city began its major growth period. Some neighborhoods near Pantego and the older heart of Arlington retain plumbing that traces back to original 1950s and 1960s construction with significant portions of cast iron, galvanized steel, and clay tile still in service. Other communities developed during the 1980s and 1990s boom feature pipe materials common to that era including polybutylene supply lines that have a known history of unexpected failure. Newer subdivisions built in the past two decades typically use modern PEX with manifold distribution systems that simplify fixture level shutoffs and make future maintenance more straightforward. Mixed material systems show up frequently in homes that have been renovated multiple times, and identifying transition points accurately is part of any thorough diagnostic process. Our team approaches each Arlington address as an individual situation to evaluate rather than a familiar type to slot into predetermined categories. Photo documentation and clear written estimates support the homeowner in making informed decisions about their own property. Building lasting customer relationships across this city has been a deliberate focus of our company since the beginning.
Hot water failures interrupt Arlington households on a regular basis because so many properties have water heaters approaching or exceeding the typical 10 to 12 year service life. Tank style heaters dominate the local equipment inventory, with gas units more common than electric in most neighborhoods. Sediment accumulation from the regional water supply continues to be a primary factor in shortened tank life, gradually compromising tank integrity until water finds its way to the floor. Annual flushing performed by a qualified plumber removes loose sediment before it bakes onto the tank bottom and accelerates internal corrosion. Anode rod replacement at appropriate intervals can extend overall tank life by years when the homeowner stays current with maintenance. When repair makes economic sense on younger units, serviceable components like burner assemblies, gas valves, thermocouples, and heating elements often restore full function at a fraction of replacement cost. Tank replacements get sized based on actual household demand using bedroom count, bathroom count, and family usage patterns rather than reflexively matching whatever capacity was previously installed. Tankless conversions appeal to Arlington homeowners who want endless hot water capacity, and we evaluate gas line capacity, venting routes, and electrical service honestly before recommending that approach. Every installation closes with pressure testing and operational verification before we leave the property.
Slow flowing drains and complete blockages are the most common service calls we handle from Arlington households, and the right response depends entirely on what is actually causing the problem in each situation. Bathroom drains typically develop their problems from hair accumulation, soap residue, and the daily debris that accompanies normal use of sinks, showers, and tubs. Kitchen sinks usually slow down from grease buildup that has accumulated over months or years of cooking residue washing down the line. Laundry room standpipes develop clogs from lint, detergent residue, and the occasional fabric scrap that escapes the washing machine drain filter. Main sewer line backups are the most serious type of drain problem and signal something happening between the home and the city tap that needs immediate attention. Cable augers handle most routine clogs effectively by physically breaking up soft material without damaging the pipe interior. Hydro jetting service becomes the appropriate response when grease, mineral scale, or root intrusion has built up beyond what cabling alone can clear. The high pressure water strips the pipe walls completely clean and dramatically reduces the chance of repeat clogs in the same line for many months afterward. Camera inspection before and after cleaning provides documentation that homeowners can review and understand.
Sewer line work in Arlington spans the full range of pipe materials and failure modes that exist across this geographically large city. Established neighborhoods near downtown Arlington and the older sections to the north often have cast iron yard piping that has reached end of useful life through internal corrosion and structural compromise. Clay tile sewer lines remain in service in some areas and continue failing at joint connections where roots find entry points and grow into mass formations that restrict flow. PVC has been the standard for newer construction since the 1980s, but improperly compacted backfill or shifting clay soil can create belly formations that hold water and accumulate debris over time. Our video camera equipment provides clear documentation of pipe condition from the home cleanout all the way to the city tap. The footage shows the exact location and nature of any problem area, which supports accurate repair planning rather than guesswork. Spot repairs work well for isolated failures in otherwise sound lines, while complete line replacement is the right call when deterioration extends along the full length. Trenchless replacement using pipe bursting techniques saves significant disturbance to landscaping, driveways, and walkways in many situations. Conventional excavation remains the appropriate approach when trenchless methods cannot reach the work or when shallow line depth makes traditional digging more practical.
Discovering a water leak after damage has already begun is significantly more costly than locating it through proactive investigation. Leak detection in Arlington homes uses acoustic listening equipment, thermal imaging technology, and pressure testing in combinations matched to each specific situation. Slab leaks dominate the difficult leak calls because Arlington sits on the same expansive clay soils that affect home foundations throughout this region. Soil movement during seasonal moisture cycles places stress on the copper supply lines running under home foundations, eventually leading to failure points that produce subtle warning signs. A hot water slab leak typically reveals itself through warm spots on flooring, water heater run time that exceeds normal patterns, or unexpectedly high utility bills. A cold water slab leak shows up as damp baseboards, musty odors, buckling flooring, or moisture appearing in spaces that should always be dry. Pinhole leaks in older copper supply lines develop as the copper thins gradually from the inside through decades of normal service. Repair options after precise leak location include direct slab access through concrete cutting, rerouting the affected line through attic space or wall cavities, or partial repipe of the entire affected zone when conditions warrant a broader response. Burst pipe repair handles the emergency situations that follow freeze events when unprotected lines fail under pressure and water rushes into the home.
Texas law requires gas line installation and gas line repair to be completed by a licensed plumbing contractor, and Big Blade Plumbing & Rooter has held those credentials continuously since 2007 with experience covering residential and light commercial gas work. Arlington properties feature a wide variety of gas piping materials reflecting the different construction eras represented across the city. Black iron pipe remains the standard choice for many residential gas applications because of its durability and the proven track record of properly installed black iron systems over many decades. CSST flexible gas line offers practical advantages in retrofit situations where running rigid pipe would require destroying finished surfaces to route through walls. Polyethylene gas pipe serves underground applications well when proper installation depth, bedding, and routing requirements are followed. Material selection on every gas project depends on what works best for the specific application rather than what is fastest or cheapest at the time. New gas appliance hookups for ranges, ovens, tankless water heaters, gas dryers, fireplace inserts, pool heaters, outdoor grills, and standby generators all require careful line sizing matched to the actual BTU demand of each piece of equipment. Pressure testing follows every new installation with documentation maintained for permit and inspection records. Gas safety drives every decision on every job because the consequences of poor workmanship are too serious to allow any compromise.
Whole house repiping addresses the deep system problems in older Arlington homes that no amount of individual repair can permanently resolve. Galvanized supply lines from postwar through midcentury construction continue corroding from the inside even after spot repairs, producing the characteristic symptoms of restricted flow, discolored water, and pinhole leaks that signal a system reaching end of life. Polybutylene installations from the 1980s and early 1990s carry their own well documented failure history and continue to drive repipe projects in Arlington homes where the material remains in service. PEX dominates current repipe work because of installation efficiency, freeze tolerance, durability across temperature swings, and a projected service life that extends well past 50 years under normal residential conditions. Copper remains a strong option for homeowners who prefer traditional materials and the proven longevity of properly installed copper systems. Whole house repipes are planned and executed in phases that restore water service at the end of each working day, which keeps daily life manageable for families during the project timeline. Water line installation from the city meter to the house often pairs naturally with full repipe projects when the service line is also showing age related decline. Sump pump installation and sump pump repair complete our drainage services for Arlington properties with crawl spaces, below grade utility rooms, or low areas that collect water during heavy rain. Quality piping work delivers value over many years of dependable performance.

CHRIS & BRODY great team, in/out same day, very professional, very friendly, extremely knowledgeable, clean, clean, clean. Explained steps, Communicated proficiently, let Granny hover, & watch, I'm not easy client for any professional. The only thing I wish warranty was minimum 90 days, but I've used, & trusted 1960's plumbing issues, since 2015. We learned to do both roof top clean outs 100 feet minimum for tree roots backing up toilet paper, we only use cheap Scott very thin toilet paper if we don't want more than 1X year clean out. We are seniors, fixed income, every plumbing emergency comes out of food budget. We eat beans & corn bread when we have plumbing issues. God Bless Curly's BIG BLADE PLUMBING Out of Cleburne, Texas. Denise & Christy answer phones, very polite, always helpful, Denise will get you on schedule as soon as possible, never waited very long especially in sewage backups. I always ask for clean, knowledgeable, experienced plumbers. I don't hesitate to call CURLY'S BIG BLADE PLUMBING.

I was scheduled promptly. They called and gave me the time that he would arrive. The job was done quickly and professionally by a Master plumber. They also left things clean and showed me how things work ed. I will use them again when I have plumbing needs.

Huge thank you to Lee and his helper! I had a hose burst on my water heater in the early morning. Big Blade was able to send a crew out fast and get the hose replaced.
Big Blade Plumbing & Rooter came out to fix an incoming water line that was leaking in between two bushes. The previous company had quoted a higher price and wanted to remove the bushes and replace the shut off valve, which was still good. Big Blade Plumbing fixed the leak for a much cheaper price and didn’t remove any bushes. For that I give them 5 Stars.
Absolutely one of the best out there! You cannot go wrong using Big Blade, they are awesome.
The price they quoted was the price we paid. No hidden fees! Quality work at a fair price! Professional and courteous!
After having a different company come out and price gouge me and calling around I couldn’t find anybody to help me with my clogged line, I was parked at a gas station and saw BIG BLADE truck drive by so I got out my phone and called, I was greeted on the phone by Denise who was extremely polite and professional, with no high pressure in setting the appointment. The price was extremely fair and affordable so we went ahead and booked an appointment, Hershel and Dylan arrived promptly like within 30-40 minutes of us calling and setting the appointment, they got here and did exactly what they said they were going to without pressuring me into getting other services they executed the repair so fast and explained to me about my 30 day warranty and potential risks to look out for in the future! I would HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND using this service. Amazing job thank you guys so much for you’re help and relieving me of all the stress that comes with plumbing difficulties!

Why Experience Matters When Choosing a Plumber in Arlington, TX
Plumbing problems get expensive fast when they are handled by inexperienced hands. A leak missed during diagnosis becomes mold inside a wall; a poorly soldered joint fails six months later behind a freshly painted ceiling. Big Blade Plumbing & Rooter has held a licensed plumbing contractor status since 2007, and that span covers code changes, material shifts, and the introduction of newer technologies like PEX and tankless heaters. Experience teaches a plumber which products hold up, which manufacturers stand behind their warranties, and which shortcuts always come back as callbacks. Arlington has its own quirks; soil movement, older galvanized supply lines, and slab foundations all factor into how a job is approached. A seasoned plumber reads those conditions before grabbing a wrench. We have built relationships with local inspectors, which keeps permits and final approvals moving. Newer outfits often underbid because they do not yet know what a job actually takes. Those low bids turn into change orders and second visits. Our customers know what they are getting because we have done it thousands of times. Choosing experience saves money and stress in the long run.
RESIDENTIAL AND COMMERCIAL SERVICE
Big Blade Plumbing & Rooter works with both homeowners and businesses, delivering plumbing services tailored to the needs of each property and system.
