Our Service

Dependable Sewer Line Installation Service in Burleson, TX

Guessing about what is happening inside a sewer line wastes time and often leads to repairs aimed at the wrong section of pipe. Big Blade Plumbing & Rooter runs camera-based sewer inspections throughout Burleson, TX, giving property owners a clear, visual answer to recurring drain problems. Our team accesses the line through an existing cleanout, or installs one when none is available, then feeds a flexible camera the full length of the sewer run. The footage shows pipe material, joint condition, slope behavior, and any obstruction or defect along the way. Root intrusions, bellied sections, offset joints, cracks, grease layers, scale buildup, and collapsed segments all appear plainly on screen. Many older Burleson properties still rely on cast iron or clay sewer mains that have aged into their final years of service, and inspection reveals where they stand. The locator built into the camera marks the exact depth and ground position of any defect, which keeps future excavation precise rather than exploratory. Homebuyers gain real protection by ordering an inspection during option periods, since unseen sewer issues often cost tens of thousands to address after closing. Sellers benefit too, since a clean inspection report becomes a selling point in negotiations. Recordings are provided with explanations in straightforward language, free of upsell pressure. Inspection findings drive smart next steps, whether that means a simple cleaning, a targeted spot repair, or a planned full replacement. Pricing is shared in plain numbers up front. Since 2007, Burleson families, agents, and investors have leaned on our crew for sewer assessments they can actually trust.

CHRIS & BRODY great team, in/out same day, very professional, very friendly, extremely knowledgeable, clean, clean, clean. Explained steps, Communicated proficiently, let Granny hover, & watch, I'm not easy client for any professional. The only thing I wish warranty was minimum 90 days, but I've used, & trusted 1960's plumbing issues, since 2015. We learned to do both roof top clean outs 100 feet minimum for tree roots backing up toilet paper, we only use cheap Scott very thin toilet paper if we don't want more than 1X year clean out. We are seniors, fixed income, every plumbing emergency comes out of food budget. We eat beans & corn bread when we have plumbing issues. God Bless Curly's BIG BLADE PLUMBING Out of Cleburne, Texas. Denise & Christy answer phones, very polite, always helpful, Denise will get you on schedule as soon as possible, never waited very long especially in sewage backups. I always ask for clean, knowledgeable, experienced plumbers. I don't hesitate to call CURLY'S BIG BLADE PLUMBING.

Big Blade Plumbing & Rooter came out to fix an incoming water line that was leaking in between two bushes. The previous company had quoted a higher price and wanted to remove the bushes and replace the shut off valve, which was still good. Big Blade Plumbing fixed the leak for a much cheaper price and didn’t remove any bushes. For that I give them 5 Stars.

After having a different company come out and price gouge me and calling around I couldn’t find anybody to help me with my clogged line, I was parked at a gas station and saw BIG BLADE truck drive by so I got out my phone and called, I was greeted on the phone by Denise who was extremely polite and professional, with no high pressure in setting the appointment. The price was extremely fair and affordable so we went ahead and booked an appointment, Hershel and Dylan arrived promptly like within 30-40 minutes of us calling and setting the appointment, they got here and did exactly what they said they were going to without pressuring me into getting other services they executed the repair so fast and explained to me about my 30 day warranty and potential risks to look out for in the future! Sewer Line Installation Service

Planning a new sewer line installation begins with understanding both the home’s drainage needs and the connection point at the municipal system or septic tank. Our team starts by reviewing site conditions including property layout, elevation changes, the location of the home and the destination connection, and any existing utilities that affect routing. Calculating the required pipe size depends on the total fixture units served, the home’s overall plumbing capacity, and any future expansion the homeowner anticipates. Standard residential main sewer lines typically use four-inch diameter pipe to handle normal household waste flow with appropriate margin. Larger homes with multiple bathrooms or unusual fixture loads sometimes warrant larger diameter service. Slope requirements specify a minimum quarter-inch fall per foot of run for most residential sewer applications, which uses gravity to carry waste reliably toward the destination. Excessive slope creates problems because solids can outrun the water that should carry them, leading to clogs even in new pipe. Surveying the route confirms achievable slope between the home connection and the destination connection. Each project receives planning specific to the actual conditions at the property rather than generic estimates.

Material selection for sewer installation affects both initial cost and decades of long-term performance underground where the pipe will operate continuously. PVC is the most common material for residential sewer service today because of its affordability, durability, smooth interior surface, and ease of installation. Schedule 40 PVC handles standard residential applications well within its rated capacity. ABS is another approved plastic option that performs similarly to PVC with slightly different installation characteristics worth considering. Cast iron has decades of proven longevity and offers superior sound dampening for vertical drainage stacks inside homes, though horizontal underground runs in modern construction typically use plastic for cost reasons. HDPE polyethylene provides another option for certain applications including trenchless installations where its flexibility matters. Each material has approved fittings, joining methods, and code-compliant installation techniques that must be followed precisely for reliable service. Our team explains material options during planning so homeowners make informed choices about their systems based on actual differences. The right material for a specific situation depends on the application, the soil conditions, and any unusual requirements at the property.

Excavation for sewer installation requires careful coordination of multiple factors including depth requirements, route selection, and protection of existing utilities throughout the property. The 811 call-before-you-dig service identifies the location of buried gas, electric, communication, and water utilities so excavation avoids damage to other systems during the work. Mechanical excavation handles the bulk of trenching work efficiently, with hand digging used near known utilities or sensitive areas where machine contact could cause problems. Trench depth varies based on the elevation difference between the home connection and the destination, with a minimum depth maintained throughout to protect against freeze damage during severe weather events. Trench width allows working room while minimizing soil disturbance and restoration scope at the surface above. Shoring or sloped sides protect workers during excavation in deeper trenches as required by safety standards on every project. Soil removed from the trench gets stockpiled on tarps or directly hauled away depending on the soil quality and restoration plans for the property. Coordination with the homeowner about access paths and equipment staging happens before excavation begins. Our team handles all excavation work with appropriate equipment and safety procedures throughout the project.

Installing the new pipe requires attention to bedding, slope, joint integrity, and protection from external forces that affect long-term performance significantly. The trench bottom receives clean sand or pea gravel bedding that supports the pipe uniformly without point loading from rocks or debris that could damage the pipe over time. The pipe lays at consistent slope along the full length, verified by careful measurement at multiple points during installation with appropriate instruments. Joints between pipe sections use approved primer and solvent welding for PVC, with appropriate cure time before any backfill or pressure testing happens. Fittings at direction changes meet code requirements for allowable angle changes and use long-sweep designs where possible to support better flow than short-radius fittings would allow. Cleanouts at appropriate intervals provide access for future cleaning, inspection, and maintenance throughout the line’s service life. Connections at the home and at the municipal system or septic tank receive special attention because these transition points often face the highest stress during normal operation. Each section of new pipe goes in correctly the first time rather than requiring rework later when access becomes more difficult and expensive.

Connecting to the municipal sewer system requires coordination with the City of Burleson or the appropriate utility authority handling sewer service in the area. The tap point on the municipal main may already exist from previous service or may require a new tap as part of the installation project. New taps involve specific procedures, fees, and inspection requirements that vary between jurisdictions across our service area. Some municipalities perform their own tap work while others authorize licensed plumbers to make the tap under city supervision during the project. The connection at the home enters the building through a properly sealed penetration that prevents soil intrusion and accommodates settlement without damaging the pipe over time. Cleanouts at the home entry provide access for future service from inside the building when problems develop later. Backflow prevention may apply in some situations, particularly when basement fixtures sit below the municipal main elevation and could experience sewer backups during peak flow events in the public system. Our office handles coordination with city utilities directly so the homeowner does not navigate municipal procedures alone during the project. Documentation from the connection process becomes part of the property record.

Pressure testing, flow testing, and final commissioning verify the new sewer line performs correctly before backfill closes the trench permanently. Water testing fills the new line with water and observes how it drains, confirming proper slope and joint integrity across the full length. Air testing may also apply depending on local code requirements, pressurizing the line with low pressure and watching for any drop that indicates leaks at joints or fittings. Smoke testing in some applications helps identify connection issues that other tests miss during initial inspection. Camera inspection through the new line documents the installed condition for future reference and confirms no construction debris remains inside that could cause early problems. Connections at both ends receive special inspection attention because they bear the greatest stress during operation and the highest risk of installation issues. Documentation of all testing supports the permit record and provides the homeowner with assurance about installation quality. Any items inspectors flag during their review receive immediate attention to support first-visit inspection passing on every project. Final backfill placement happens in lifts with appropriate compaction to prevent surface settling that creates problems later. Surface restoration completes the visible project work.

Long-term performance considerations shape every decision throughout sewer installation work from initial planning through final commissioning. Material selection, slope calculations, joint integrity, bedding quality, backfill compaction, connection details, and cleanout placement all affect how the system performs over the decades it will serve the property. Tracer wire installation alongside the pipe supports future locating with electronic equipment when other tradespeople need to find the line during future work. Marker tape buried above the pipe warns future excavators about the presence of the sewer line at the depth specified on the tape. Documentation of the installation including materials, routing sketches, depth measurements, and inspection sign-offs becomes part of the property record that supports future home sales and any service work needed later. Final walkthrough with the homeowner confirms the system performs to expectations before the project closes out and access disappears beneath restored surfaces. Big Blade Plumbing & Rooter installs sewer lines with longevity as a primary consideration on every project rather than minimum-effort work that passes inspection but creates problems within years. Quality work delivered today serves the property for many decades to come without requiring premature replacement.

Our Service

Why Hiring a Licensed Plumber for Sewer Line Installation Matters in Burleson

Sewer line installation involves excavation, code compliance, and structural decisions that affect your property for the next fifty years. Licensed plumbers in Texas train extensively on pipe sizing, slope calculations, bedding requirements, and tie-in procedures. Big Blade Plumbing & Rooter has held a Texas plumbing license since 2007, giving Burleson customers verified, accountable workmanship on every sewer project. A licensed professional knows how to coordinate with city inspectors, locate underground utilities safely, and install cleanouts at the right intervals. Unlicensed sewer installations often skip permits, use wrong-rated pipe, or create bellies that lead to chronic clogs within months. Licensed plumbers also follow proper trench safety, bedding practices, and backfill procedures that protect the new line from future damage. Texas plumbing code addresses pipe materials, slope, venting, and tie-in standards for sound reason. Our crew respects every requirement on every job. Liability and bonding coverage protects your yard, driveway, and surrounding structures throughout the work. Permits and inspections preserve your insurance coverage and add documented value at resale. Honest pricing and clear timelines come standard with our service. Choosing a licensed plumber like Big Blade Plumbing & Rooter means the sewer line is built right and trusted for the long term.

Most Common Sewer Line Installation Questions

Sewer line installation is a major project that raises questions for homeowners considering new construction or replacement work. Below are the questions Burleson homeowners ask most often before scheduling sewer installation.

A standard residential sewer line installation typically takes two to five days depending on the length of the run, the depth required, and the conditions at the property. Shorter runs in soft soil with no significant obstacles often complete in two to three days. Longer runs, harder soil, or properties requiring rerouting around obstacles can extend the project. New construction sewer installation fits within the overall construction timeline rather than running independently.

Permit processing and inspection scheduling add lead time to overall project completion. Burleson and surrounding cities typically process sewer permits within a few business days, though some situations involve expedited service when needed. Inspections at multiple project phases coordinate with inspector availability, which can affect timing. Coordination with municipal water and sewer authorities for connections may add scheduling time depending on the specific requirements.

Weather and ground conditions occasionally extend timelines beyond expected ranges. Heavy rain saturates clay soil and makes excavation slower and messier. Hard freezes occasionally complicate excavation during winter months. Unexpected conditions at depth, including rocks, buried debris, or unmarked utilities, sometimes appear despite proper locating procedures. Our team communicates promptly when surprises emerge during work. Realistic timelines come from initial planning rather than optimistic estimates designed to win the job.

Sewer line installation costs vary significantly based on the length of the run, the depth required, the chosen material, and the site conditions at the property. Short runs at moderate depth in accessible soil fall at the lower end of the price range. Longer runs, deeper trenches, or properties with extensive hardscape, mature trees, or other obstacles cost more. New construction sewer installation typically costs less per foot than retrofit work because access is unrestricted before other construction completes. Each project is quoted individually after thorough site assessment.

Permit fees, inspection costs, and city tap charges add to total project price. The City of Burleson and surrounding municipalities each have their own fee schedules for sewer work. Tap fees for new connections to municipal mains vary significantly between cities and can be substantial on larger services. We include all anticipated municipal costs in upfront quotes so there are no surprises. Some installations require coordination with utility crews from the city that adds to total project time and cost.

Restoration costs are often underestimated by homeowners new to underground plumbing work. Sod replacement, concrete patching, paver work, driveway repair, and landscape restoration can add significantly to bottom-line costs on larger projects. Our quotes itemize restoration separately so homeowners see exactly what is included. Some customers prefer to handle landscape restoration themselves to control costs. Financing options are available for qualified customers when projects exceed comfortable cash outlay. Honest pricing reflects how we have operated since 2007.

PVC has become the standard material for residential sewer installation because of its excellent combination of cost, performance, and ease of installation. Schedule 40 PVC handles normal residential waste flow well and resists corrosion that affects metallic materials. Smooth interior surfaces minimize debris accumulation that causes clogs in rougher pipes. Lightweight construction reduces shipping and handling costs while making installation efficient. Approved solvent welded joints create strong, leak-free connections when properly made with appropriate primer and cement. Long-term performance has been excellent in installations dating back decades.

ABS is another approved plastic option similar to PVC with somewhat different characteristics. The material has been used in residential plumbing for decades with good results. Joining methods and code requirements parallel those for PVC in most applications. Some plumbers prefer ABS for specific situations while others prefer PVC universally. Cast iron retains its place for certain applications, particularly vertical drainage stacks inside homes where sound dampening matters. Underground horizontal sewer runs in modern construction typically use plastic materials.

HDPE polyethylene serves specific applications including trenchless installations where the material’s flexibility supports pipe pulling through bored or burst paths. The continuous lengths possible with HDPE eliminate joints in the buried run, which appeals to some homeowners and inspectors. Joining methods for HDPE include heat fusion that creates solid pipe-to-pipe bonds without traditional fittings. Each material has appropriate uses, and our team selects based on the specific application rather than universal preference. The right material for one home is often different from the right material for another.

Sewer line depth depends on several factors including the elevation difference between the home and the destination connection, freeze protection requirements, and local code provisions. Minimum depth typically requires 18 to 24 inches of cover above the pipe to protect against freeze damage during hard winter events. Greater depth is often needed to maintain proper slope from the home to the municipal main or septic tank when elevation differences require it. Deeper installations require additional excavation work and may need shoring during construction.

Maximum depth varies based on practical considerations rather than code limits in most cases. Very deep installations require specialized equipment, additional safety procedures, and significantly more excavation work. Some installations involve depths of six to ten feet at the connection point when significant elevation drops occur between the home and the destination. Our team plans depth based on actual site conditions during the assessment phase rather than estimating from typical figures.

Proper bedding and backfill protect the pipe at whatever depth it is installed. Clean sand or pea gravel bedding supports the pipe uniformly and prevents point loading from rocks. Native soil backfill in lifts with appropriate compaction protects against surface settling. Marker tape installed above the pipe during backfill warns future excavators about the presence of buried plumbing. Tracer wire supports future locating with electronic equipment. These details affect long-term performance regardless of installation depth.

Yes, sewer line installation requires permits in the City of Burleson and every surrounding municipality without exception. The permit process protects homeowners by requiring licensed contractors and inspection of completed work. Permits also document the installation for property records that support future home sales. Skipping permits exposes homeowners to insurance denials, code enforcement issues, and complications during future property transactions.

The permit application includes project scope, materials being used, the licensed contractor information, and a sketch showing the proposed routing. Some municipalities require more detailed plans for complex installations. Permit fees vary by city and project size. We include all permitting fees in upfront quotes so there are no surprises during the project. Posted permits remain visible at the job site throughout the work and inspection process.

Inspections at multiple project phases verify proper installation. Pre-cover inspection examines the pipe before backfill, checking materials, slope, joints, bedding, and overall installation quality. Final inspection after the connection to the municipal system or septic tank verifies the completed installation operates properly. Our team coordinates every inspection and addresses any items inspectors flag promptly. Passing inspection on the first visit is the goal on every project.

The connection between the home’s sewer service and the municipal sewer main is typically called the tap or service connection. The City of Burleson and surrounding cities own and maintain the main sewer lines in public right-of-way, while homeowners own and maintain the service line from the home to the connection point. Where exactly the responsibility transitions varies by city but typically occurs at the property line or at the tap on the main.

Existing properties usually have a tap already established from when the home was first connected to municipal service. New construction or major service replacement may require establishing a new tap, which involves city procedures and fees that vary by jurisdiction. Tap fees can be substantial for new connections, particularly for larger commercial services. The fees support maintenance of the public sewer system that the connection joins.

Coordination with the city for tap work happens through our office during projects requiring this service. Some cities perform their own tap work while others authorize licensed plumbing contractors to make the tap under city supervision. Backflow prevention sometimes applies at the connection depending on local requirements and the home’s elevation relative to the main. Our team handles all the coordination, permits, and procedures so the homeowner does not need to navigate municipal processes during the project. Documentation from the connection becomes part of the property record.

Modern PVC sewer lines installed correctly should deliver 50 years or more of reliable service in typical residential conditions. The material resists corrosion, handles normal household waste without difficulty, and maintains structural integrity over decades of operation. Manufacturer specifications and field experience both support long expected service lives for properly installed PVC sewer service.

Cast iron sewer lines from older homes typically deliver 50 to 75 years of service before internal corrosion or other deterioration warrants replacement. Some installations exceed these timeframes when conditions are favorable while others fail earlier when conditions are aggressive. Clay tile sewer lines from older installations have variable service lives depending on installation quality, soil conditions, and tree root pressure. Quality clay tile installations have lasted 75 to 100 years in some cases while others failed within 25 to 50 years.

Several factors affect actual service life regardless of material. Tree root intrusion through joint failures or cracks shortens lifespan when roots are not managed. Foundation movement and soil settlement can stress sewer lines over years and contribute to failures. Heavy use, including high-volume kitchen drains with significant grease loads, accelerates wear in some sections. Proper installation, periodic maintenance, and prompt response to developing issues all extend service life. Big Blade Plumbing & Rooter installs sewer lines with longevity as a primary consideration on every project.

Yes, trenchless sewer installation methods are available for many situations and reduce surface disruption significantly compared to traditional open trenching. Pipe bursting can replace existing sewer service while preserving most of the surface above the line. Directional boring creates new underground paths between access pits without continuous excavation. Both methods are particularly valuable when surface features like driveways, sidewalks, mature trees, or extensive landscaping would otherwise require expensive restoration after open trenching.

Pipe bursting works for sewer service replacement rather than initial installation in most cases. The technique requires an existing pipe in the location where the new pipe will run, since the bursting process uses the old pipe as the path for the replacement. Directional boring works for both new installations and replacements, with the steerable drilling head creating whatever path the project requires. Each method has specific requirements for soil conditions, access space, pipe routing, and overall feasibility on the property.

Cost considerations affect the trenchless decision because these methods typically cost more per foot than traditional excavation. Savings on surface restoration often justify the trenchless premium on properties where significant restoration would otherwise be required. Our team evaluates every project for trenchless suitability and presents both options when both are feasible. Honest assessment includes saying directly when traditional excavation is the better answer for a specific situation. The right method depends on the specific property and the homeowner’s preferences.
